They just left a message on my phone talking about a time-sensitive matter, & that it's important that they speak with "the correct person at this residence". If it's so bloody important, why wouldn't they say WHO they were calling for? They left a reference number.

Do they not understand that more than one person can LIVE at a residence? If they don't say which person they want to speak to, it's THEIR FAULT if the wrong person calls them back. The chick sounded really rude. The way she said that it was important to speak to "the correct person at this residence" made it sound like she calls here all the time & the person puts their friends on the phone or something. Seriously? That's a little pathetic. How is the "correct person" supposed to know who the fock they are if you don't say their name? lmao

We don't answer our phone unless we know who it is & that it's someone we WANT to talk to. We just delete all the stupid messages from telemarketers & creditors. If we had the money to pay our debts, we'd be paying the companies we owe DIRECTLY. There's no sense paying the commission for some rude botch who can't even clue in that 2 people legitimately live here, & it used to be FOUR up until a few months ago.

Isn't it somewhere in a statute that they are supposed to say WHO they are calling for? I know it's ALLOWED at least, so why is she acting like that would give away the whole secret of the details she needs to discuss? Stating the person's name isn't going to tell the other people who live here & PAY FOR THE PHONE SHE'S CALLING how much money is owed, or to which company. She didn't state what company she was representing, either. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to state that as well. These creditors need to get their acts together. Some numbers call us twice or even THRICE in a day. You'd think with all the calling they do, they'd know how to do it PROPERLY. Like, with the amount of people they try to harass each day, you'd think they'd know the rules & how to leave a damn message. lol I know four-year-olds who could leave messages more effectively than the one we just got.

If they don't tell you how much to pay them, how do they expect to receive their money? Or do they think that people will just blindly send them thousands of dollars in hopes that they don't pay more than they owe?

Take them to court! You probably payed off your debts already, & they're just sapping you for anything they can. It is the LAW that they HAVE TO give you a receipt if you ask for one. Even buying a car from someone's front lawn, they HAVE TO give you a receipt. Anyone on the paying end of ANY transaction of ANY KIND who asks for a receipt is LEGALLY ENTITLED to one.

You could have sued them for that. They're not allowed to talk to someone else without your permission, except to obtain your residential address & home phone number.

They CANNOT ask you for your SIN. If you'd contacted the government & reported that, they would have been in bigger trouble than a harassment lawsuit. They probably would've been shut down.

I'm from québec and I receive a call from Nor-don she left me a message, and told me that she works for ontario govenment ... and i have like nothing in ontario I did my studies in Montréal !!!

To be honest, I think collection agencies call at random a lot of the time. Sure, they call/try to call the people they're looking for, but a lot of the time, I think they use an auto-dialing machine, like telemarketers use. I think it's stupid that they'd try to call people they clearly have no business calling to try to scam people out of thousands of extra dollars just because they think they can.

Have been repeatedly harassed by these people for years now.  I agree with everything said about them on the complaint website and on here.  My child did deal with one agent who was pleasant several years back in arranging to clear out an old student debt.  However, that was after a great deal of abuse from the oldtimers on staff at NorDon.

It seems the ONTARIO gov't will sell student loan accounts in arrears to NorDon, who buy them and then doggedly go after their costs plus a sizeable profit.  Settling that one debt seemed smart, but here they are again, even tho' child now deals directly with a remaining creditor.

In the past, we have been able to block their number when it comes up, till now -- HOW did they get the right to have their number protected from blocking: this is crazy.

These guys call me once a month, if not more.  I had $9000.00 in student loans 15 years ago.  I paid back my federal loan instantly and sent a money order for the provincial part 2 years later.  I have sent them the paper work, and and copies of the receipts.  They still claim I owe just over $3000.00.  These guys are rude, degrading and thiefs.  I would strongly recommend doing your research before sending these guys any money.

They called me and left a msg, I called back and could not hear the company name, it was so faint.  They connected me to the "next available agent" and she asked for my nephew who must have given out my number to someone.  No info was given indicating why they were looking for him.  She sounded very serious but now that I read it may have something to do with an unpaid debt, I think I better warn him.  I just left him a msg to call her back.  He's been in jail for almost 4 years so I have no idea what debt he could have incurred!  Very odd......

If you need assistant with the student loan payments and dealing with this Nor-Don Collection Network contact Revenue Canada Recovery Office at 1.855.340.2786 and talk to them about a payment plan. The Revenue Agency is pretty good (believe it or not) to give you chance to pay your student loan without having the people from NCN call you 100x a day.

I left a message in his voice mail with, if you are contacting him be sure to leave your name, number and a message regarding your complaint. He will take care of things I can guarantee it. They helped me a great deal along with the Revenue Canada Recovery Office. All calls stopped and thankfully I paid my student loan easier than dealing with NCN. Good luck!!

When a Government start to do something about this kind of company, they bug all the times and at any hours, is time of to do an class action I think so!!

These ppl just called my house asking for my fiance and it was an automated voice message, and left a reference number and it said it was a personal matter. Im glad I looked this number up otherwise i would have called it back, probly some kind of scammmers! aint given no info out over the phone Im stupid!!!!

I get called all the time from this number about a student loan, anyways just be careful these people try to pass themselves as the Ontario government talking about  give them a call it is very urgent ... if they are a collection agency why are they masquerading  as the government is that not illegal

Yep, got a call form them today, as a call center team manager, i told the agent i had called back i wanted her name, employee number, and reference number for the call, as well i had educated her i WILL be recording the phone call.

she had stated she will not provide me with that info, nor allow a recording and hung up.

I had the same problem of a pre recorded phone calls, whom they mention they are calling on behalf of Ontario Goverment.

I ask my service provider to investigate and stop the call or else because my phone is unlisted to any one, and they are responsible to have give your number to telemarketing

Even if they have wrong number
no one can keep calling you with a wrong number.

Guess what; the call has stop.

My uncle received a call from them and they said it's an urgent call from the government of canada. They left their number and reference no. and asked for me to call them back.  The funny thing is I have never lived with my uncle at his address.  They got my uncle all worried and he called me.  Immediately I smelled something funny as I know I don't owe any debt.  I paid off my OSAP through my bank about a year ago.  Good thing I googled their number and I discovered this forum.  Thank you all for the useful feedback.  NorDon can waste their time calling around all they want and waste their resources but I won't waste my breath with them.  What a bunch of idiots...they deserve it.
