Left message saying there's an urgent message from Ontario government.  The government always has a department and a real person leaves the message.  I think ncn is collecting the provincial portion of the student loan.

I've NEVER borrowed money, I pay off my credit cards every month.  Somone from Nor-Don is calling my family named Debra Ashcroft from this company.  After reading other posts about Nor-Don I am mortified.  Does anyone know if these people are scam artists.  I don't even live in Canada any more.

received a call from these a--holes, said I bounced a cheque in 1998, yeah 1998! to the Ontario Ministry of Transport, it amazes me how our government works, over the last 13 years, I've lived in Ontario, and purchased probably a dozen vehicles, renewed my sticker every year or two.The ministry has never denied me plates or stickers, I've owned my own business for 5 years,I file my HST every 3 months and taxes every April. Then these idiots call my home phone and tell me the government couldn't find me!!

No one needed to give them your number for them to get it. They can ask telephone companies for a list of everyone with the same last name in the same area code/city as the person they're looking for. It's how they try to zero in on people who try to get away from them. Don't talk to them about your nephew.

They HAVE TO give you their company's name, THEIR name & the reference number if asked. It is required BY LAW. Also, it is required of them BY LAW that they record the conversation, state the time & date on the recording & send you a copy with the date & time of the call written on the tape/disk if you request them to do so. You should keep a journal & log the calls.

What to include in your logs (anyone being harassed by telemarketers/collection agencies can & SHOULD do this for EVERY SINGLE call whether you answered or not including voicemail & answering machine messages):
    1. Date of call
    2. Time of call
    3. Name on call display (even if it shows up as a series of numbers/zeros)
    4. Number on call display (or lack thereof)
    5. EVERYTHING that was said, including what YOU say
    6. Do your damnedest to get their company name, THEIR name & any other information about the situation they're contacting you about.
    7. Report EVERY case of harassment to the police & EVERY contact made by the harassing company after the initial report. YOU HAVE RIGHTS.

Collection agencies don't deal with traffic tickets. Report it to the Ministry. If you owe them money, they will tell you themselves. You would have received several letters about it BEFORE the debt was sold to the collection agency, & the collection agency CANNOT call you until 6 days after they send you a letter explaining the debt to you. Report this to the Ministry & then the police.

    Wondering
I receive calls to my cell phone every day (day or evening) from this number- I don't pick up the phone because its a "877" number and I have voicemail, so I figure if it was important they would leave a voice message right.... NOPE not once do these people leave a message for me to contact them, finally I found this forum that was able to tell me who is calling me.  THis seems really suspicous considering if you have a outstanding student load they usually take your income tax.

Ugh these [***] have been calling me for a couple weeks now, everyday a few times a day. They woke my 3 year old up this morning. If it is about a student loan there's no way it's for me. I have never had a student loan. I assume it would be for my my son's father who hasn't lived here in almost a year. He just started college this past September so there's no reason why they should be calling him for that already. I don't typically answer these types of calls unless they don't stop. I will answer the next time and tell them how it's going to be. But I learned my lesson the last time I told a collection agency that he was my son's dad. They kept calling me to give him messages because he wouldn't answer his phone. This time, the dude's just my ex, and we no longer have contact.

NCN / Nordon is just a trash 3rd party collection agency, they will pretend they are calling on behalf of the Ontario Government, but they are not, they get drunk and go to strip clubs with the money you send them to offset so-called "student debt".  None of that money goes to the Canada Revenue Agency, your account was sold off to 3rd party collections and now the CRA has nothing to do with it.  Ontario legislation says that provincial portions of guaranteed student loans are always collectible and never become stats barred, but that does not mean that crown debts do not get sold off, because they do, at which point you will be making voluntary acknowledgments of debt.  Don't waste your time with trash collection agencies - actually wait, do waste your time - it hurts them more than it hurts you.

These [***] call me at least three times a week. they use the "We are calling from the ministry of transport" bull^^&@ I have no idea why they are calling but the old Lets call, harass and lie routine has proved not to be an effective method of collecting debts. I guess these clowns are "kicking it old school" when it comes to Debt collection. the best thing to do is answer the call and quote this web forum back at them, tell them I AM READING ALL ABOUT YOU AS WE SPEAK!!!!!! now [***] and stop harassing me. or I will report you and your number to the Police

These poeple keep on calling and leaving messages to call them back urgently.  The message is always for someone who doesn't even live at my house.  I have called them back many times to tell them this over the years and they still call and leave messages periodically.  Yes they have been calling my house for the same person who does not live at my address, And I have never heard of him ever in my life.  I had it out with one [***], she was really nasty.  She tried to threaten me, sue me, for what???  They were calling the wrong person.  They were in the wrong, I told her to go ahead and sue me..  How the hell do we get them to stop...they are calling the wrong address.

    Harrassed for years!
Holy Crap! These morons keep on calling my house and asking for a Gregory Gittens, No one here by that name, name does not match ours, we don't know him, & no student loan here ever!  I have called them many times to remove my number from their data base, they said they would, but it happens all over again the next year...they have been calling my house for years!!  It started again 3 days ago. I get about 3-4 calls a day from them, it is maddening.  Does anyone know if Bell Canada do something about these people, or can the police do something.

Robo call from "FSCN" (least that's what I can decipher from the call) asking for Andrea Brendan (sp?). Believe they are a student loans collection company.

I AM NOT ANDREA. I DO NOT KNOW ANDREA. I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF OR CONTACT WITH ANDREA.

This company has called every other night for one solid month. I am on the National DO NOT CALL registry, yet they keep calling me. What kind of incompetent investigation/research do they conduct which gives them incorrect contact information!

I am registering a complaint with the Ontario Ombudsperson!
