- BigA replies to MikeVulgarity is not appreciated nor wanted on this web site. If you can't make your point without it, it belittles your post and your intelligence.
- Louie| 3 repliesThis number is indeed legit. I got a message saying my account was locked by email. I then tried to login to that account and it popped up saying to call the same number ( this was using the MyAtt app).
- TimIts a scam. The announcement is wrong. They don't ask you to put in lookup info as they don't have a system at the other end to handle it. Current AT&T systems have sophisticated voice response systems, this had none. Just went to long hold (OK, well THAT is like AT&T!!). The verbal options given aren't AT&T standard options.
Oh. And when you call the REAL AT&T fraud dept, they are closed for the night.- Caller: 877-285-0144
- Brian| 3 repliesThis is definitely fraudulent. It is one of the most well crafted phishing attempts I've ever seen though.
- Caller: Scammer
- Call type: Prank
- AndyThis is a total scam. If you call 877-285-0144 you will end up talking to the fraudsters in The Philippines, if you query them they will say that they are in Phoenix AZ, but not with that accent, nor with the Tagalog conversations in the background.
If in doubt call the AT&T Fraud Unit at 877-844-5584, or go through the customer service number printed on your bill and ask fro the Fraud Unit.
Do not give access IDs or passwords to these criminals, they will try hard to get them including threatening to cut off your AT&T service. - jerseyjane replies to Brian| 1 replyI just got the email today, and it does look ligit, but if my account is locked then it will stay locked but why can i still use my phone this has "scam" written all over it.
- janet replies to A| 2 repliesand the att logo doesn't have the "ATT" below it. I think it's a scam too. It doesn't sound like ATT when you call the number. I worked for ATT for 27 years and I'm suspicious. Trying to find someone to report this too.
- Janet replies to LouieI signed on to my account with no problem, after receiving this email.
- Janet replies to janet| 1 replyI just spoke with someone in the fraud department at ATT and they advised this letter is from them. I did not call the number on the letter, but someone at a number that I knew was really ATT. Some accounts have been compromised per the rep I just spoke with, so they sent out letters to those who "might" have been affected.
- Janet replies to AI thought so too, but called an ATT number other than the one on the letter and it's really from them. - ReneeThis is a scam. Please look into it. They Re trying to say they are ATT and reset passwords etc

- LindaI received several emails saying my account is locked. The rep did not know the number I was calling from and immediately asked my for my online passcode. This feels and sounds like a scam. The call back number is the same one here and does not feel like or sound like the normal great service I get. I told her I would go without service before I give our personal information. Funny my service is still on.
- H| 1 replyThis number was printed on a VERY official looking letter sent to my address, which is the address on my AT&T account. We called it and were presented with menu options including billing info. But we selected the Account Info option. The recording immediately asked for our 6-digit login ID. We hung up the phone. Felt like a scam, but when I called AT&T, I learned the letter was legit and was transferred to the fraud dept. I'm not sure why people above are saying that this is definitely a scam. For peace of mind just call 611 or the main AT&T number and ask about your account. They will let you know whether the letter is real or not. - William replies to HThe main AT&T customer service number is on every printed statement they mail by USPS and on their website.
- TwighliteIt is a scam. I called ATT and reported it to the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov). I was able to sign on my account. It wasn't locked. Always do your own calling, and contact the FTC if you have questions. Don't rely on others to let you know if scam or not. Do your own research.
- Herb replies to JanetAT&T does send out a letter like this. When speaking with the Fraud department be clear what the phone number is on the letter 877-285-0144 IS A FRAUDULENT NUMBER. AT&T is investigating.
