Please do NOT be scared:) I have been receiving this phone call since April of 2015! Every time they call, it's a different person...men, women, different names. They always say they are calling from my local county and want to verify my work place and home address, because SOMEONE will be showing up at either my work or home within 48 hrs to serve me. I am being sued. Sometimes they just reference a case # and sometimes they say there was an error with my local bank. Guess what...in almost 10 months of threats...no one has showed up at my door even once! Go figure. That is one of the big flags that this is a huge scam. Along with these.... I) I do not bank locally, I bank online. 2) I work from home. 3) After losing my job 3 years ago, going through a custody battle, and having REAL collections accounts and judgments because of those things, I know the process. I know legitimate companies do not call you ahead of time to warn you that they will be coming. I know these people try to be intimidating, and they do a good job! But, from what I have learned, they are not legitimate debts that I owe...it is people who bought my information from not so honest companies (pay day loan companies) that I thought about applying with until I saw the outrageous interest rates and fees. Once you complete online applications for such things...they have your information. EVEN if you don't ever take out the loan, many of those companies turn around and sell your info to scum bag people like the ones making these calls to try and scare people into paying them for debts they never owed. Report them to your local Police Department, Sheriff's Department, and the Attorney General's office...do not send them money. By doing so, you are enabling them to continue to prey on innocent people.

877-287-5157. They identify as a legal office Weiss & Associates.  This is not a real company - they change their name to avoid being found. They also change their phone numbers, and also Spoof numbers on your caller ID. Real Low Life. Here's the lay of the land as they say, I work in the court system so I will go thru this for you .

First they are calling because they say they can not find you. This is Crap as the sheriff, will NEVER, EVER call you to tell you they are coming. They live to work on the element of surprise. Plus if your township, county etc, wants you, they already know where you are, so sit tight.

Second, and most important, NEVER CALL these low life bottom feeders back.  Because truth be known they don't care who they talk to as long as they can get money from someone. It doesn't even have to be the right person. If you call them back then they know that they have a real tangible working phone number that they can call to harass you all the time of day and night.  Just ignore the call, or better yet, tag them as a spam call in your phone, and you'll never even see them ring it.

Third, these people function and live on the *Fear factor* they will say anything,  tell you anything to get you to give them the money thru your checking account, debit card or credit card.  Many people get scammed this way. I've heard : coming to your workplace to arrest you, serving you in the morning if you don't call by a certain time, attaching your salary, etc, etc, this is all nothing but crap.

Fourth, in most states if they mention a payday loan, be advised MOST are ILLEGAL as they charge obnoxious interest, and states are trying desperately to control that.  Since I'm not sure of what state anyone is in, I cannot site them all here, but if you go to your states attorney general page, you should be able to look up the laws.

Fifth, I know it sounds nice to send them a letter or report them, but this is a futile. They have got this to a science.  With all that is going on in court system they know they have time on their side.  Not enough of these low life bottom feeders get caught and prosecuted, if they did...they wouldn't still be in business, but they are, thousands of them.

Lastly, anyone who posts that you are scum or a deadbeat PAY YOUR BILLS , OR OMG  they came to my place of work and arrested me, are full of crap and are just trying to SCARE you, SEE MY THIRD NOTE Above, Fear factor.

Best thing to do in this case, especially with these people is TO IGNORE. Eventually when no one engages with them they will go away to torment someone else.

Hope this helps you all out.

    One who knows.

The number that showed up on mine is 385-232-7256. They were calling for my daughter.  That was the first clue. My daughter does not give out my number to contact her.

Total debt collection scam.  Being in ordinary civil debt, (even defaulting on a payday loan) is NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  We do NOT have debtors prisons in the US.  No one is going to serve you anything.  No legitimate process server (civil cases) calls you up in advance and tells you he or she is coming by.  If there were a civil case pending against you, you'd hear about it by letter from the attorney for the other party.  You'd have a paper trail. You would NOT have heard about this from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Nothing to be scared about.  Read my entry.  Report them. Total debt scamming operation.  Being in ordinary civil debt is NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  Warrants are only issued by judges and they are only issued to duly constituted officers of the law upon proper application and investigation.  They are only used in criminal cases and are only served in hand by duly constituted officers of the law.  But, as I say, being in ordinary civil debt is NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  Ignore and block the calls.

A "Rita Levine" has been associated with a group called  BRONSTEIN & WEISS ARBITRATION, INC.  She appears on other numbers on 800notes claiming to be from this group.  The "Weiss" name and Rita Levine or some similar variation are pretty much  flashing red lights for this debt scamming operation.

    Not certain, but  see:  http://www.bizapedia.com/ny/BRONSTEIN-WEISS-ARBITRATION-INC.html

Not arbitrators, nor a law firm.  They are debt collectors located in New YOrk.  I'd ignore and block the calls if I were you.
