Here is what I have found out about 877-289-5108 and what you can do to make the calls stop.

First, the number is registered to a multinational marketing corporation called trg which stands for The Resource Group (http://www.trgcustomersolutions.com)  They are a world leader in bpo solutions (business process outsourcing.)  Their world headquarters are, interestingly, in Washington, D.C.  The corporation employs 6,000 people in 27 locations, in seven countries using 11 different languages.  Last year alone trg hired over 2,000 people.  This year they will hire another 8,000.  This is not a small organization.  They operate within a broad cross-section of business sectors including retail, automotive, travel and hospitality, healthcare, media, telecommunications, financial services, insurance, pharmaceutical, non-profit and government.  Their world headquarters are in Washington D.C. to make it easier for them to lobby the U.S. government.

    The Resource Group
    Global Headquarters
    1700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
    Suite 560
    Washington, DC  20006
    +1-202-289-9898

The division of this corporation that is causing all of the irritating phone calls is their telemarketing division.  The reason so many people are being affected is the corporation is contracted to telemarket for more than 300 worldwide brands.  If you have a bank card, a cell phone, a cable account, a department store credit card -- essentially, if you live in the modern world, the companies with which you deal betray you and freely provide your contact information to telemarketing organizations like trg.

The Royal Bank of Canada, for example, is referenced countless times in forums such as this.  Yes, The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has provided all of their customers' phone numbers and other data to trg to aggressively sell other bank products such as insurance.  Your internet provider, mobile phone provider, department store, insurance provider, health care provider, travel agent, car dealership, drug store, etc., etc. have all provided your contact information in order to aggressively sell you product line extensions.  We now live in a world controlled by the voracious appetites of shareholders.

Why do you get so many calls?  The company is creating a profile on you.  trg employs automated dialers which phone your number over and over and over again.  They enter data as to when the phone was answered by a person and when it wasn't answered at all or was picked up my an answering device or service.  This pre-research stage can go on for weeks.  Once a profile of your answering habits have been recorded by their computers, the CSR (customer service rep or telemarketing sales person) is armed with more accurate data which makes reaching you in person easier.  trg operates call centres all over the world and their telemarketing proprietary technology is formidable.

These are legitimate contracts between the company you deal with (your bank, cable company, phone company, etc.) who provided your contact information to trg.  trg promises their clients increased sales.  They are aggressive, intelligent, incredibly well funded and will stop at nothing to "get the sale" for their client.

The key players at trg are Partners: Mr. Zia Chishti, Mr. Mohammed Khaishgi, Mr. Hasnain Aslam, Mr. Frank Kelly and Mr. Anthony Solazzo.  The Managing Directors are Mr. Nadeem Elahi, Mr. John Mazur, Mr. Asim Saber, and Mr. Craig Serio.  The Principals are Mr. Asghar Hussain, Mr. Chris Jones, Mr. Chris Ungarino and Mr. Scott Weitzman.  The Executive Vice Presidents are Mr. Hassan Afzai, Mr. Jamie Barrett, Ms. Antionette Forth, Mr. Karl Gabel, Mr. Ken Hahn, Mr. Carl O'Neil, Mr. Duncan Paterson, Mr. Greg Rajchel, and Mr. Frank Venezia.  The Vice Presidents are Mr. Waseem Ahmad, Ms. Leanne Appeldorn-March, Mr. Miles Bird, Mr. Gary Blasiar, Mr. Mademba Diouf, Mr. Bill Fillmore, Mr. Obaid Haq, Mr. Shuja Keen and Mr. Rahim Lalani.

There you have the complete picture behind these irritating and incessant phone calls.  I found this all out because I, too, was being harassed constantly by phone calls from 877-289-5108.

Here's how you make them stop.

This corporation is single-minded.  They want your money.  Time is money, which is why they first engage an auto-dialer to reduce the time their CSRs spend trying to reach people to sell.  If they can't reach you, they can't sell you.  They will give up and move on soon enough if they can't translate their efforts into sales dollars for their clients and themselves.  This is only about money.  They want yours, that's all there is to this.  We haven't been exposed to this level of aggressive selling which is why it's so jarring.  If their auto-dialer can't get an answer, they will abandon the number.  They will remove your number themselves.  So, don't answer when they call.

If you do accidently end up speaking to one of their CSRs, ask them to transfer you to their Supervisor or their Privacy Officer immediately.  You must be very firm about this.  Don't engage in a conversation with the CSR.  Repeat that you are to be transferred immediately.  This organization, and others like it, are actually operating legally (despite that the pictures of the key people all look like mob and terrorist mug shots) and in order to continue to operate, must comply with the laws of the land.  It is the law that they must have at least one Privacy Officer on duty at all times.  The act with which they must comply is the Personal Information Protection Act (or similar depending where you live and what the specific privacy law is.)  Once the CSR puts either the Supervisor or Privacy Officer on the line, you request they permanently remove you from all of their lists.  Warn them that if they fail to comply, and if you are contacted one more time, they will have breached the Act.  Any breach of the Act is a serious crime and falls under the auspices of the Federal Information and Privacy Commissioner (or similar official depending on your jurisdiction.)

If you read your credit card contract, your cable provider contract, your mobile phone contract, etc., etc., you will read that you have contractually agreed and given permission to the company to contact you (or contact you through a third party) to update you on additional services offered by said company.  That means you have agreed to be contacted by telemarketers like 877-289-5108.  You have contractually given these companies you deal with, your bank, your insurance company, your telephone company, cable and internet company, etc., etc., permission to provide your personal contact information to marketing solicitations.  We all have.  Yeah, I know - it sucks.  These greedy companies are morally bankrupt, yes, but the letter of the law is on their side because you contractually agreed to this.  You can request that the Privacy Officer remove your name in accordance with the Act.  No matter how many people trg hire worldwide, no matter how many people are hired by the unscrupulous companies with whom we deal, we, the public, will always outnumber them all.  We still have the power.  They still need us as customers or they have no business.

I hope this helps.  Good luck!

They just called my cell - I'm with Bell Mobility in BC, I missed the call - but it seems I didn't miss much... didn't leave a voicemail or anything.  Maybe RoyalBank like someone else suggested? I'm a customer of theirs.

Kept getting this number (18772895108) showing up on my phone...wasn't sure what or who it is/was so I never bothered to answer.  Called it back today after they phoned yet again -- usually 2 to 3 times a day -- and added myself to the DNC list...Hopefully the matter becomes a cease and desist variety!!!

Thanks to all for the useful info on here regarding the number as well.

I got a call. called back the Customer Service line that MATTHEW has posted above...spoke to Isaac...I said I wanted a copy of whatever information the TRG company has about me.  He said I should call ASHLEY in Pensylvania at
    1-888-878-7400

He apologized that they called my cell as its illegal for his company to call cells.  I said, "so did your company then commit an illegal act when calling me?"  he said something to the effect that it was an unintentional illegal act.  I said ,"so is not knowing the law a legitimate excuse for breaking it?"  then he went on about how they get a list from some registry blah blah blah, and offered to have my number removed.  i said NO!  I want my status with your company to remain the same until i get a copy of ALL information your company has on me.  I will post a follow up after I speak with ASHLEY tomorrow.

I never answer 800#s of any kind. I wait to see if they leave a message. These bozo's decided to leave a message. Only it was the sound of someone sitting at their desk with the usual office sounds in the back ground. People's short direct conversations, the sound of computer fans and A/C and  that sound of a person trying to listen in on your phone call but can't quite seem to breathe quiet enough. They stayed on for the entire duration my voicemail would allow. Can't wait for them to call back.

I began receiving calls from this number 2 weeks ago. After a couple of times I called it back and heard their BS "do-not-call-list" message. Attempted to remove myself by entering my number, but of course it failed. Just now I contacted the company directly by phone and demanded that they remove my number.  The CSR tried to ask me a bunch of questions, but I refused to answer them... I just kept repeating that he should remove my number immediately.  He apologized for the inconvenience (yeah, right) and promised that within 24 hours my number would no longer be called.  We shall see...

I received a call from this number 5 minutes ago and decided to google them to find out what company they were and this thread came up. Someone said something about RBC? I am a customer of RBC as well. Maybe I'll answer next time and bully them into giving up their info.

I called the number back - it is TRG customer solutions - and they had a remove option.  I entered my phone number to be removed and a recording said that within 72 hours I would be removed from their data base.  I'll see it it is true

    Stop Calling Me
We get several calls a week from this number. I have had enough so today I called the number back and placed our phone number on the do not call list.  We'll see if it works. The company does identify itself as TRG Customer Solutions.
