    Seriously frustrated
I just got two calls today on my cell for my husband's up coming CT scan. They say they are a "health program representative with your health insurance company" and had the same message as others, "they used his full name, place of employment and stated that was  time sensitive" & ref #'s followed by this is not a sales call." I have been shopping prices myself with different hospitals and imaging centers. I asked the Doctors office to use my cell so I could arrange for him. Curious how they got my personal cell? I do not give out info to people who call me period. Frustrating to know that info was shared or hacked, and a general impression is that Anthem stinks and covers little! Would not doubt they sell info or have been hacked! Wish the employer would change insurance companies!

That's unfortunate for you. this is  Anthem and they do help members understand their benefits and find most cost effective and conveniently located facilities to have high cost tests done and save many members out of pocket money.

Does seem a bit disconnected from Anthem - said some things in a generic way like "use the website on the back of your member card."  However, he did know all of my info, including my policy number, the details of my doctor's order, etc.  In any case, they are legitimate and they helped me.  The folks I talked to were actually incredibly helpful. And sure it saves Anthem money for you to get your tests done at different facilities, but it saved me about 500 dollars also.  I am incredibly glad they called me.  If they cant help you, just tell them so and move on. They weren't pushy at all with me.

WARNING!! THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY SPOOFING BCBS AND ANTHEM PHONE NUMBER!!! They called us tonight, asked for information which we refused to give them, asked them to mail us what they need from us AND THEY REFUSED.  Your insurance company will mail you info if you request & not refuse.  The reviews you see in here that say is not a scam are written by the scammers.  Tell these scammers you are going to put them on hold and call your insurance company and conference in with them.  Your insurance company will tell you that these people are 1000% scammers fishing for your information.  DO NOT FALL FOR IT AND DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO!!  IF THEY ASK AM I SPEAKING TO (YOUR NAME) DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT SAY YES, SAY "THIS IS HE" OR "THIS IS SHE", THEY ARE TRYING TO GET YOU TO SAY YES BECAUSE THEY ARE RECORDING YOUR CALL AND THEN WILL SAY YOU AGREED TO WORK WITH THEM

I have Anthem insurance and just had a CT scan ordered.  Within hours these guys were calling me for the same reasons as listed above.  I called the number on the back of my card to check.  Apparently the calls are not fraudulent according to the rep.  They are a third party working for/with Anthem (but are not actually Anthem).  I asked if I had to call them back and the rep said no, so long as my doctor is making sure my scan is done with an in-network place.  So are they a scam?  Apparently not.  Do I think it's still unnecessary/scummy?  Pretty much; not happy that Anthem alerted this third party/sold my info to them.  Just do your due diligence to make sure your procedure is done in-network and tell these guys to [***].

I have an MRI scheduled this week. I had this number calling me pretending to be my insurance leaving a voicemail. I've never had my insurance call before so I immediately was suspicious and googled it. Glad I found this page. They literally say it's "time sensitive" and "not a sales call" in their messages... Huge red flags of a scam!

I received a call from this number and decided to call my insurance provider at their actual number first.  The representative said they were with anthem and even transferred me over to the number.  They simply took my name and the reference number and told me my doctor scheduled an appointment (which was true) and told me the prices it could be and that was all.  About an hour later I called anthem back and the representative this time said it was not with them.  Don’t know if maybe one of the representatives misheard the number or what.  But if they are not with anthem, then there’s a problem.  Either way my advice is to call your insurance provider first and check with them on this or any similar calls and make sure they have the number right.

Same as others. I called twice because I'm slow. I cannot imagine how they can do this within minutes of actually scheduling the CT Scan. They must get the info from Anthem. This has to be illegal. Why has it gone on for years? Where are our protectors we pay taxes too? 1st call I was redirected to an over 65 Home alert care package and 2nd call I was told I had won a WalMart gift Certificate. Had NOTHING to do with my CT Scan/Provider or Anthem Insurance. DO NOT CALL

This is a legitimate number.   After speaking with this person for a few minutes I started to wonder about the call, so I hung up.  I called BC/BS directly and they said that the call was legitimate; that it came from their Cost and Quality Department.

Do you often look up known phone numbers? Have you never heard of phone number spoofing? Just because the call was valid for you doesn't mean it is for others.

Thank you for vouching for us. We do work for Anthem just a different department than customer service and we actually work directly with providers and AIM who processes the claims. I think I would know if I was a scammer especially working out of the Anthem bcbs building directly.  It gets frustrating with people assuming we are scammers because we ask for DOB. Never for ssn or anything like that. We just have to verify HIPAA or Anthem would be legally in trouble and then people would complain we are giving out their info to anyone who says that they are them.
