- Questionable CallerCalled my spouse, claiming from Cabella's Visa. Did not give any other information but my name. I called Cabella's Visa and gave them the number. Guess what, they don't recognize it. This could be a scam of some sort. More interesting, I was able to confirm Cabella's did not have my wife's cell phone.

- RickI got a message from 877-338-6191 this afternoon. The caller said he was calling from Cabela's World Foremost but he mumbled and I didn't clearly understand the word 'Cabela's', addressed me by name, and asked that I return his call. I looked the number up here and figured out it was Cabela's collections number.
I did miss last months payment. I wrote the check and mailed it as soon as the statement arrived but the check never cleared so I assume that piece of mail was mishandled somewhere. I'll probably never know where. I've since received the subsequent statement with a $25 late fee and I wrote a check for the full balance and mailed it back with the first outgoing mail.
So I called the customer service number that's on my card, not the 877-338-6191 number and spoke to a service rep. Before speaking to the rep their phone system informed me that my account was suspended. The rep confirmed that 877-338-6191 is one of their numbers and they typically make a call when a payment is missed. I told him that I had sent the payment for last month and it got lost in the mail, that I paid my balance in full including the late fee for this month, and that it made a bit angry that this went to collections so quickly. I also pointed out that there was no mention of my account being suspended on my latest statement. He assured me that the call was just a reminder, that Cabela's makes no report to the credit agencies until two consecutive payments have been missed, and he credited me back the late fee.
Cabela's has been a good card. Their customer service is in the US and they answer the phone with no waiting time. They have contacted me and detected credit fraud within just a couple of transactions and never held me responsible for charges not made by me. And I can use my Cabela's points to buy ammo.- Caller: Cabela's World Foremost Bank

- Mich Wagner18773386191 calls up to 8 times per day. I have no idea who they are and they won't leave a message.
- Barbara CombsSomeone from this phone number has been harassing me with tons of calls each day. I do not answer them, very frustrating
- DesertDiva| 1 replyMy husband and I were getting calls from 877-338-6191 a couple of times every day. They never left a message. I blocked the number with my Panasonic phone, and the first day the number was blocked they called 17 times! The second day it was 11 times. The third day they called 14 times. At least when a blocked number calls, there is only a very short ring. The fourth day was Saturday, so no calls. I am curious to find out if they continue to try to call on Monday. Most callers whose number I block quit calling after a couple of calls. My husband has a Cabela's card. I will have to see if he is behind on his payments.

- Heinz57 replies to DesertDivaI believe with your phone you can set it to NOT ring for a blocked call if you so desire...check the owners manual (page 22 I think-"Setting not to ring once for blocked call").
- Jneal73Who cares if they are calling about a "real" debt owed - calling and not leaving a message is very unprofessional, and calling several times a day and not leaving a message is harassment and is ILLEGAL per FDCP Act!
- Caller: Cabelas Visa?

- Nunn YaWe know we are delinquent on our payments... no need to remind us 12x a day. Until then, we'll just have to UNFRIEND you... LOL.

Your wish is somebody's command:
Have you considered obtaining a call blocking device, app, or phone? Google (or your favorite search engine) IS your friend!
Realize that the Do Not Call list is NOT a call blocker!
Here are some tried and true methods for reducing or eliminating repeated spam / scam phone calls: Click on the Info link, below, to see themInfoWant to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
Try these alternatives:
1. Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail. Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.
2. If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.
3. If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group". Assign the scammer's phone number to that group. Also assign a "silent ring" to that group. You will not hear your phone ring if that number calls you again.
3a. Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc. That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers! (Disadvantage: if you forget to whitelist somebody, you won't hear their calls, either)
4. For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider. They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.
5. If you buy things online, you might want to google "phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon or other sites have to offer for landlines or smartphones.
6. DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live". Instead, read this:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/one-ring-cel ... ing-your-wallet
7. Consider picking up the phone, then immediately hanging up. A "real" caller will usually call you again, within seconds. A robocaller will not.
If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.
