- 4DogMom| 5 repliesThey called and I did not pick up. Then they called again just a few minutes later and I answered. It was a female claiming to be from Wells Fargo Fraud division in Atlanta. She asked if she was pronouncing my name correctly. I told her the name she had was not me she said she had a wrong # and hung up . This call came to my cell, and I've had this # almost a year, so no idea if she was who she said she was.... One thing though I do not give business entities my cell #. They all get the land -line which we screen and never answer unless we know you
- Caller: Well Fargo???

- Call type: Debt collector
- Personal Banker / CSSR| 5 repliesI am a representative of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., AU 68468 in Fort Worth Tx. This is NOT a Wells Fargo number. THIS IS A SCAM. Go to your local branch, or call the 1-800 number on the back of your debit card if you have questions. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO OR EVEN CONFIRM YOUR NAME/ADDRESS
- Caller: "Wells Fargo"
- Displeased| 3 replies877-352-0969 called my cell number saying they were from Wells Fargo Fraud Dept., which is easy for me to believe -as we have had legitimate fraud issues in the past and have been notified by Wells Fargo Fraud Dept. However, this call was referring to my business account, which I don't have a business account. Long story short, I called Wells Fargo directly and asked to be transferred to the fraud dept. and was told that the reference number that I had was not a Wells Fargo reference number. Obviously this is a phishing scam.
- Caller: Supposedly Wells Fargo
- F replies to Displeased| 2 repliesJust got a call at work from this number about my Wells Fargo account. They wanted me to verify my information before telling me what the fraud issues were. I asked for their number and a reference number so I could call back. I called the fraud number on Wells Fargo website instead. No issues on my account. According to the Wells phone rep, 877-352-0969 is not a valid Wells Fargo phone number.
- mark| 2 repliesWas from Wells Fargo. Was a legitimate call. Actually had unusual activity on my account.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Call type: Debt collector
- Steve| 1 replyThis is a valid number for Wells Fargo Fraud Detection. Given the nature of Fraud, it does not always mean that you are actually involved. Only that a fraudster may be using your information, so still good to know.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- ScottGot a call from this number, they left an extensive voice mail claiming to be from the fraud department.
NEVER call back a number that you can't verify - call the customer service number on the back of the card and have them direct you to the fraud department. It took me all of two minutes to verify that there was no problem on my card (if any call from the fraud department is made, a note is filed) and this call was a scam.- Caller: NOT Wells Fargo
- KimThey having been calling claiming to be Wells Fargo Fraud department. This is a SCAM. I called the actual Wells Fargo Fraud Department (which is an 800 number.) According the them these calls are an attempt to obtain customer social security information. I DID have fraudulent charges on my account which the REAL Wells Fargo Fraud Department took care of. If you have Wells Fargo, call the fraud dept listed on their webpage, do not answer these fraudulent calls.
- RPThis was a legitimate call, although not published on Wells Fargo's website. I did not answer the authentication questions they asked when calling me and called Wells Fargo's official number for personal checking account fraud. I was asked for a reference number and the representative confirmed that there is a check fraud question pending on my account. They then offered to transfer me to the appropriate department and gave me the phone number to call in case I got disconnected (877-352-0969). This time I answered the authentication questions and they did have information about a check that was unusual on my account.
- Caller: Wells Fargo Check Fraud
- KateM replies to Personal Banker / CSSRFunny--I figured it was probably a scam so called my branch. The manager was not interested in helping me figure this out. I also called the 800# on my card and the recorded voice said the call volume was too high so I should call back. Nice customer service.
- Jack| 2 repliesI go the same call today. It's a scam! I called Wells Fargo and they said there is no suspicious activity on my account.
Never give personal information to anyone who calls you on the phone, no matter who they say they are!!!!- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Rob A| 1 replyThis was a legitimate call from WF asking me to verify a check as the signature did not match what was on file.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- This is realThis is truly the fraud department with Wells Fargo. I'm on the phone with them right now and they are resolving a fradulent check issue. I took the advice of others on this page and called WF directly using the number of the back of my debit card, but they recognized the number left on my voicemail and the issue was real. If you get called by this number, get in touch with them!

- WynneThis is Wells Fargo's fraud department. This number called and left a reference number. I called the customer service number from the back of my debit card. The customer service called the number for me and verified that the number is legit. The customer service indicates that their system does not show all internal number and that's why the number is not published.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- CReceived a call from "Wells Fargo, Linda Steele, Customer Fraud Detection Unit," on my home phone regarding unusual transaction on my account. I did not pick up and let it go to voicemail. I do not have any accounts with Wells Fargo and I have a security lock on my credit. Tried "reverse" phone look-up and couldn't find any information except call came from Kansas. I followed the recommendation of the respondents here and called Wells Fargo's fraud department direct. They checked and didn't find any accounts let alone unusual transactions under my name. Wells Fargo service rep laughed and said it was probably a mis-dial. In my opinion, FRAUD.
