I got this call as well today and was told to call 18772831689, but when I called it the guy on the other end spoke broken english and seemed a little off so I hung up. I looked up the actual NSLSC from the site listed above and did not have to wait long on hold like I did with the first number (50 min crazy) the women I spoke to was much more professional and was able to comfirm that number as well as tell me the reason for the call. always call NSLSC main toll free number first! you never know

The number is legit. I called NSLSC and they told me that they have different departments with different phone numbers and they're not all listed on the website. They confirmed that 1877-283-1689 is from NSLSC.

I already verified this number by calling the MAIN NSLSC number listed on their website, so I can assure that the number is not a scam. Keep in mind that the ONLY time they will ask for your SIN is if you call their MAIN number, you will have to enter it on the keypad in order to proceed. They will NOT ask you to verbally provide your SIN! They will only ask for your Loan No. full name, DoB, mailing address and phone.

well don't worry the number is legit no scam I called them back the message said welcome to NSLSC and the man knew my bank information with which I had problems ! the problem was legit too no scam it is NSLSC but I think that fax number is for its Mississauga office on 2 Robert speck pkwy ! I think that's what it is that's why the number is different!

Did you go to school in Canada ?  It is a SCAM !  Block it !  Buy a Panasonic phone that blocks numbers.

This is a scam,
they called me like twice every day to request my social insurance number and ask if I have joined account on my OSAP I have to open another account with my name only and send them my bank account on this fax number 18773601387.  which will be easy for them to still my money!  that is why I found out was bizarre. Thanks God I have to do research otherwise I will be in trouble. if anyone ask to send your personal information on phone is scam.

I called 1-888-815-4514, the number is legit, they verified it , it is a resolution department, they call you if you have account issues

I am not a student and no where on the legit site is this fax number found.

Don't listen to the scammers here, student loans never ask for such personal personal info to be faxed!
