I got a call from James Winston stating if I did not call 844-209-9182 with the attached case number he would be at my door on 6/6/14 to serve me in a civil suite.  I called the number spoke to Daniel (NCR - National Check Recovery) who said I owe $810 to Mass Street Group for a loan I took out in October 2011. He would take 8 equal payments on a credit card to settle this debt.  According to Credit.com Mass Street Group has been out of business for a while and I should not respond to this company.

On 6/4/14 I received a message from James Winston (Process Server) stating if I did not call 844-209-9182 with my case # he would be at my house on 6/6/14 to serve me legal documents and to be sure I have 2 forms of ID Ready.  I called the number and spoke to Daniel x 1016 who stated that the Attorneys from (NCR) National Check Recovery are getting ready to file a claim against my name and social security number for a loan that was from 2011.  It was deposited in my account but I failed to pay it back.  I assured him it was not my claim and that I would like something in writing to verify that this debt was mine.  He said Mass Street Group had sent me a letter in November 2011 and again 3 months ago that I had not responded to... Mass Street Group is apparently no longer in business, per a few articles I saw on another site.  I did not give him my credit card to take care of this in the 8 easy payments of $101 per his request.  I told him I was at work and I would call him back... I did not!

Received a call from Candice Robinson advising me that my file had come across her desk and that if I wanted to resolve this that I should call 844-827-6618 with my file number..... I called the number and it said thank you for calling NRA... I have dealt with these scammers before.  I do not owe any payday loan debts... I will not call back.  just an FYI...there is a second number they are calling from....

I have also started to receive phone calls from number 844-802-1396.  Funny thing is, when I try and call from my work line (which is a State agency), it says the call can not be completed.  I can only call from my cell phone, for some reason the call goes through.  I have been told all of the same things everyone else has.  However, when they called my parents house, they used the line, "Your daughter put your name down in a recent purchase as a co-signer."  Little do they know, that's a move I would NEVER make behind my father's back!  Thank goodness I do work for a State agency and our phone calls can be recorded.  I've informed these idiots of that and now they generally just call my cell phone, which I just don't answer.  They called my SIl in Texas and she gave them an earful!  I have no idea what this debt is about and can't remember the last time I wrote a check!

This is the same scam I got but the number I was given by the "dispatcher" who called from a private number was 855-434-3003.  I was given a case number to reference.  I called and spoke to a Jack Winston.  He had my name and my husbands, the last 4 of our social security numbers and our address.  He told me court papers would be delivered to our home and my husband would be charged with fraud.  He offered a payoff of $600 and I told him that we couldn't pay.  I offered to make payment arrangements which he refused.  I told him I would speak to a lawyer and hung up.  I started googling whether or not a credit agency could charge for fraud and what the laws were regarding debt collection.  Just then, my mother-in-law called saying that they contacted her too.  I knew that was illegal so I called a lawfirm I found online who specializes in that sort of thing and they told me it was a scam.  I hope they catch this scammer and put him in jail.
