Multiple calls from same number following activation of new cell phone. Calls were often twice per day just minutes apart. I called number from a recorded phone line and informed Direct TV to cease calling immediately. I was told my number would be removed from their data base. By documenting / recording the conversation, should they call again, I can sue them in small claims court - and win!

Will call continously,hangs up on answering machine.Then they call right back,hang up again.Never leaves messages and if answered silence or loud music.I reported them to the fcc also.DTV installed cable in my home,without my permission,while I was gone.Daughter had signed contract,didnt check id's,nothing.Now I have a $128 dtv bill,satilite on my roof,they threw the old one in my back yard,and holes drilled in my walls...All this WITHOUT my signature,social security number,id..nothing.

called several times over the past month asking for someone I have never heard of.  I have been assured my number has been removed...I am calling the licensing agency in my state about collectech if another call comes to my phone.  THE NERVE OF THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They called after 8:00 pm, put me on hold and then when I finally got transferred to an operator she asked if my husband was available, I said no he was not could I take a message. She did not say another word and then hung up on me. I called back, waited through the hold music, got to an operator who said nothing and hung up on me.How do they expect to collect a debt if they do not leave messages about why they are calling or whom they are calling for?? We are not paying them a dime until they actually tell us that we owe money.

I answered but no one said anything.  I called back and voicemail said company was CollectTec (sp?) and purpose of call was to collect a debt.

keeps calling my cell and even my home phone asking about someone i have never heard of. I have asked them to stop calling and they have not stop! stop calling me!!!
The Caller Type: Anoying

All you have to do is tell the person to remove the number. Hold on the line till the number is removed. Verify with the person the number. Give it a bout a day or two, there're no more phone calls. Make sure U don't just hang up because the calls will persist. That's how I dealt with it.

I went to my local cell provider(verizon) and had them block the #,,,
 I do not know how the other cell providers work but u should be able 2 do the same hope that helps some of u ,,, this is a great web site!!!

If that does not work have your cell provider block the ###, mine did no more problem, good luck 2 all!!

I get calls from this number on my cell phone.  This number calls as early as 6:30 am and once as late as midnight. Do not know what they want, since the two times I did answer I was put on hold for three minutes and then disconnected, and the other times they do not leave a message.

If it is Direct TV, cause all it says on my caller ID is Toll Free.I can say.  I have direct TV, but I do not owe them, nor do they have my cell phone anywhere in their records as a contact number. But direct TV does have this "Advance Billing" policy, where they bill you for a month in advance. so you do not even have to use the service and you will owe them. Example, since it is January now, Lets use the billing cycle of charged on the 1st and due on the 5th. One Jan 1 DTV will bill you for service from Feb 1 2010 to March 1 2010. If by Jan 5th you have not paid that, DTV will then cut off your satelite signal and send you to collections for what you owe them. What you owe them, is the service provided from Feb 1 2010 to March 1 2010. because they bill in advance. so they send you to collection for not paying for service they have not provided you with.

Ah, only in America do we allow corporations to do such corrupt things and get away with it. Because we as people, tolerate it and allow it.

The best thing people can do here, is file a complaint with the FTc and write your elected representatives. And I suggest doing such. Or if you really want to tell your story you can e mail investigations@thezerovoidshow.com. It just may make the show.

I received a call from this number today and when I answered they asked for my boyfriend. I asked what they were calling in regards to and the man over the phone replied with " it's a business matter" I asked if I can take a message but he said no then hung up. So I waited till 2 something in the morning and called the number back. Come to find out the number is DIRECT TV!!. JUST TRY CALLING THE NuMBER AFTER BUSINESS HOURS AND YOU'LL SEE FOR YOURSELF IT'S DIRECT TV

This is a collection agency for Direct TV.  They called and played music at 10:10 PM.  I held on for about 2 or 3 minutes and somebody comes on the line.  I think they think it is a legitimate collection attempt rather than harrassment.  Does anybody know if calling after 10 PM and playing loud music is legal?  Why would Direct TV pay for that.  Do you think they get paid for all those calls they make where people don't ever find out where it is coming from and just feel harrassed?  Do you think anyone ever did any comparison studies to see if this kind of treatment gets Direct TV any more money that other carriers.  Maybe it means nothing, but I would always advise anyone to stay away from Direct TV and go with any other carrier.  I should have know to stay away from anybody that had anything to do with AT & T.  Starting with the first time I had cell service through them and there was never any service to my home.  They told me for a long time it was the phone.  They knowingly lied to me.

This is the 3rd or 4th time they have called.
I advised them after they asked to speak to (person's name ) that the individual had died. They then asked for another name, I advised them they had also died. They said they would make a note of it. Next time I receive a call from them I will advise them the person they are asking for won the Lottery and is out traveling around the world. If they are going to waste my time, I will waste there's too.

I have no clue why the they would call me... Noone I even know is associated with DTV... I'm only 17 and they bug the crap out of me on a daily basis.

I also keep getting these calls. I am a Directv customer with a balance due so I called DirecTv on their REAL number (18005315000) and they informed me that this number 18773711823 is NOT associated with them and to NOT pay any money to these people at this number. My account is NOT in collections and they took note of the number as well.

It is for sure Collect Tech for Direct TV.
I havent had an account with them EVER.
When I call it back they tell me the phone nuber is listed for a gentleman I have never even heard of.
Wish they get their shi* straight.
Its really fun to call them back and not say a word and right before they hang up scream or burp on them. LOL Makes you feel better.
