- Jehosafat replies to Jerry H.I played stupid with the technician. After 15 minutes, I finally told him I'm running Linux. He called me a donkey [***].
- Jeri replies to Juliayes it's a scam!!
- Michelle replies to Irritated HusbandI did exactly what you did and I got this critical error 268D3. Saying I needed to call Microsoft support immediately or my chrome book was going to be disabled. Wanted me to go to my task manager and other stuff. When I wasn't able to get my Chrome to shut down that's when he was like my senior support will help you next but your going to have to pay a fee. Yeah right I was not going to pay anything. So he was like then you need to disconnect from your wifi and then your chrome book should be fixed. Amazing how a very critical alert for a virus and spyware is creating such havoc with my isp address but it's all fixed because I shut off my wifi. This stuff is just not right. He had me very nervous about this. Today is April 20th 2017.
- MichelleI went on my chrome book and went to Google and then typed Facebook. As soon as I was done an error box popped up saying I had to call this Microsoft support number 18773829050 because my computer was full of virus and spyware. The message also said that if I choose not to call that number then my Chrome book would be blocked and then I would not be able to use it.The critical error message number is 268D3. Told me that my ISP address was being used to get my online banking my passwords etc. I asked him how that could be he as if I wanted him to show me how. He had me going to my task manager to stop my Chrome browser from running. When I wasn't able to get it to shut down that's when he said my senior staff person would be able to get these virus fixed but it would cost me a nominal fee. I said that I would not be paying for any thing. Once I said that he changed his tune. He would be able to fix it for me . I told him that I wasn't going to be needing his help. Then I hung up.

- MizPrintI had one of these messages pop up today. Recognized it as an attempt to gather private info so shut the computer down. When I booted it again and opened SeaMonkey the message popped back up so I turned the machine off again. Booted again and ran MWB and Windows Defender. Nothing found by either. I have my computer set to delete history, cookies etc each time I shut if down. Must not have been long enough between the first and second shut downs for it to act. It certainly did the second time.

- LRMA replies to Heinz57This started on my computer when my husband went to login to Facebook and the ransomware popped up. I use AV and keep it up to date, run scans, etc. How did they plant something on the computer in the first place that let them "hack" Facebook in Chrome?
- JadeI let them have remote access what do I do now ????

- Alfalfa replies to RobClick on the offending link, then end task. This should allow you to get out of the screen.
- Barbara replies to Heinz57Got the same message and stupidly called the number. "Tony" said he worked with Microsoft. After asking me for the error code he said they "had a glitch"" there" and would call me back. Then I plugged in the phone number and saw these messages. I'm running Windows Defender right now as a full scan. Is there anything else I should do?
Thanks!! - Aircruiser55Just popped up on my new MAC after installing OFFICE. Gave me lots of warnings and to call the 877-382-9050 number. X'ed out of it.

- Bella replies to Heinz57| 1 replyI was trying to login to Facebook and it brought me to this page informing me that if I don't call Imedietly it will give out personal info such as
ºFacebook password
ºCredit card info
ºAnd email passwords
It won't let me close the page of anything and I'm just stuck here and don't know if I should call because I don't know if my information will go out or not so I'm just sitting here trying to figure out what to do. What should I do - B-Edwards replies to BellaThis is a type of pop-up. You need to close and restart your browser, and then re-start FB. You may have to force shut down to get off FB, or even close your browser, some of these pop-ups can be a real pain.
- bport replies to Etm75Did you loose anything? Did change passwords because I did the samething
