Thank you for Auto-Renewal of your Geek PC Subscription. A Deduction of $359 From your Account to cancel call at 833-535-2002. To stop this sms reply Stop.

My son just bought a PC from Best Buy (not me) but I just got this text from 855-451-1808 saying "Thank you for Auto-Renewal of your Geek PC Subscription. A Deduction of $359 From your Account to cancel call at 833-535-2002. To stop this sms reply Stop".... Trying to figure out how I'm pulled into this scam?

Grammar is bad so that is first sign. Googled and found this thread so definitely a scam.

This number 855-458-0918 texted me "Thank you for Auto-Renewal of your Geek Computer Subscription. A Deduction of $329 From your account. To cancel or refund fill form on  https://bit.ly/3fbzFgJ." BEWARE

This caller would not and refuse to identify himself and or company.  Therefore, absolutely Scam/Fraud.

Received similar text "Thank you for Auto-renewal of your Geek computer Services Subscription. A deduction of $359 From your Account to cancel call at 877-319-3064" Just a different phone number.

My scam came in the form of a text message from Computer Geek Squad Automatic Subscription Renewal.. Using fear tactic that $359 would be taken out of my account unless i go to website  and  cancel or get refund. I called the Federal Trade Commission and reported it. It is definitely a scam!

Scam text regarding auto renewal of geek computer

I called Best Buy and filed a complaint and claim.  They said a lot of people have been getting that text message and phone number

I just received an invoice for $489...I called, and they also said I would have to go through cancellation from my computer! I believe it may be wise to buy a VPN.
Also, I’m seeing more hacks since FB announced some of their/our information was leaked but they stated they wouldn’t do anything about it? What else to do? Block the invoice? Alert my bank? Who do I report this too? What a scam!

Not sure a VPN would help, those scam invoices are sent out my the 10's of thousands every hour. Where the trouble starts is that you fall for it and call that number and let crooks in India get on your computer. More than links, it is you interacting with scammers that gets you more of those emails and phone calls.

Scam emails are not "hacks", you have a distorted idea of the terminology and types of scams - and how some of the scams work. It takes some time to gain that knowledge, but it is not really that complex.

Those emails should have gone into your spam folder, and if you mark them as spam, your email program should start to learn what items to class as spam.

Please make sure you have a great anti-virus program on your computer, the better ones will protect you from opening malicious emails and links.

The text showed to be from 315-966-6629

Thanks you to all the previous posters for the reassurance that the scammers don't have anything unless I call the # and allow them to manipulate me into giving them my information.

Mine said "Thank you for your order #545455 with Geek PC.  A deduction of $449.31 from your account for autorenewal.  if you want to cancel/refund for help connect +1-877-319-0761".  I ignored it, after first checking my bank account to make sure no one had hacked my debit card and ordered something.

Spoof Paypal email message: "You sent a payment of $463.03 USD to Trycom Exchange"  "Note: You have 2 days from the date of the transaction to open a dispute in the Resolution Center, issues related to this transaction kindly contact us at +1 877 399 1107"

Got an "invoice" email that NORTON 360 had been "renewed updated successfully." So I guess these scammers are using Norton 360 as the bait now too. Like others have said, don't call just delete and move on.
