- Pamela C.RM Superlative is a legitimate 3rd part collections agency. They do in fact "buy debts" or notes from other companies then call to collect on it. While I understand that it's frustrating to get incessant calls from companies like this, just calling them scammers and dismissing them isn't really going to help anyone.
Firstly, if you truly don't have any outstanding bill or debt they could possibly be calling about then they most likely have your phone # in error. Did you get a new cell or home phone number over the last few years? They more than likely are calling for the last person that had that number OR the non-paying debt ower just gave them a fake number from the get go. If you just call them back, speak politely and let them know not only do they have the wrong number but that you don't even know that person and have had the phone # for XXX amount of time they will gladly take your phone # off the file. Yes, I know they begin the call by asking for your personal info like name, etc... I simply said "Well I'd rather not just give my name but since you called here you should know who you are calling for". They replied, quite politely, they were looking for a Brandon Martin. I let them know I didn't know him and have had this phone # for 3 years. Again, as I said, they happily said they would remove my number from the file.
Secondly, for those of you who DO have a legitimate debt they are calling about and you are in fact the person they are calling for (or a person in the household is) then it's pretty sad you just want to blow it off using excuses like "Oh they asked to many personal questions" or "oh that had some of the information kind of wrong". I have no sympathy for you. There is no excuse for avoiding your responsibilities. Yes, I know there are scammers out there but you can ascertain quickly if they are legit or not by asking some very basic but specific questions. You should at the very least have a polite conversation with them. If you don't want to give out info, then ask them to provide info like names, D.O.B, etc and that you will confirm whether or not they have the right person using what they give you.- Caller: RM Superlative
- Call type: Debt collector
- frog replies to willa| 1 replyI did answer the call and they wanted me to verify a lot of information. I told them about FDCPA LAWS and request information. Because I did not verify 100% of my information, they refused to give my information on why they were calling me. The man got very rude and hung up. Do not verify any information if they don't tell you who they are or who they represent. Collection agencies can not call before 7 am or after 9 pm. If they do, you can file to take the bond they must carry to operate in the state you live in.
- frog replies to frogI do not blow off my responsibilities. I have had my ID stolen. I am very careful and I do know the laws. Please do research before you release your information. You will regret it.
- WhiteYetiAK replies to LarryUtleyThats messed up!
- WhiteYetiAKGuy called and asked for me by name to confirm my mailing address and DOB, he spouted off an address and DOB but neither were mine, then he asked me why i was hesitating to answer when i wasn't, then he hung up, i could hear multiple of the same calls in the background going on as well. The guy never gave me his name.
- Caller: Didn't give me a name
- GS replies to willaThis guy gave me a hard time. He actually said they sent me a letter last April of 2021? He wouldn't say who he was working for ~ I didn't receive anything from whoever he works for. I've been hit 3 times by scams. I even tried to pay back my own money that was spent over & above what was stolen from me. Each of the 2 organizations one of which was a law firm who also cheated me. That's hateful ~
This country should crack down on these weasels. - Cancer patientI have a hard time talking due to oral cancer and my tongue was removed. I'm 71 years old I have no idea what or who that are because they don't try to understand me. Maybe they should send me a letter.877-
