I work for a cellular provider. 3rd party charges are USER INITIATED, that means you are the point of contact for the 3rd party charges. watch where you input your cell or write your cell for that matter. there is a program that is used to block this as well. have you asked or do you just assume that your getting worked over cause you're the little guy. get real all cell companies have problems wth their customers opting in to services they have no business or knowledge on. blame yourself but as your provider for help. try being nice and they just might be nice back.

I received a text message from the number stating that mystery shoppers were needed.  I've done legitimate mystery shopping before, so I thought nothing about calling them back to get signed up.  Never before have I been asked for my credit card number.  This caused me to ask more questions.  She eventually hung up the phone on me,  If you give them your credit card number there will be some mystery shopping going on alright...ON YOUR DIME!!

I got the mystery shopper txt too. I'm a bit confused by all the posts - I know I shouldn't reply to make it STOP, but who should I call? Last time I ignored it I started getting a lot of txts and after hours of investigating found out which company was sending them & got them to remove my number. Some dentist out in Elgin, IL had entered my cell # in an online form (either by accident or on purpose, I have no idea).
So, what should I do to stop the txts? Just ignore for now? I don't have my notes on who I contacted last time & don't want to spend hours investigating this again.
And for the record, I did fill out the FTC form last time & they didn't do anything. They ultimately sent me a letter via snail mail to let me know their investigation didn't result in anything so they dropped the "case".

Got text from 682-230-1360 about undercover shoppers with 877-450-6614 as the reply number. I've been entering the 682 # on their registration site so they keep getting texts www.virtualsmscity.com. Probably unlimited texts for them, but I like to think it's annoying.

Received spam texts,  if you have AT&T, go to mymessages.wireless.att.com and you can report the number there if it is from a regular 10 digit phone#.  Prepaid customer service told me that this will stop all spam calls from regular cell numbers once completed. works for contract phones too.

If you get spam from a short code (5digit #), forward the spam text to SPAM (7726).  you will receive a reply from att with instructions, after it tells you to reply to the spam txt with STOP and you do that, you should not receive any more spam txt from any short code.  This is according to customer service, and only works for AT&T service as far as I know.  You will have to ask your carrier how to handle it if You don't have AT&T.

    God bless.

I have been getting these messages as well and am not sure how they got my number.  I am an AT&T customer and now pay $5/month to block 30 numbers since they do NOT seem to stop when you ask them too.  We have to keep the pressure on these companies to stop harassing us.  My cell # is on the do not call list, but it doesn't seem to help.

I recieved a text message saying that I could make $100 a day by being a secret shopper for retail and dining establishments, all I had to do was call 1-877-450-6614. Luckily, I checked out the area code for the original phone number that had sent the message to my phone, and discovered that it was from Atlanta, Georgia. I live nowhere near Georgia, plus I looked up both numbers on yellowpages and white pages and there is no record of both numbers on any of these websites. I am now certain that this a scam. I still don't understand how they got my cell phone number since I only hand it out to friends or companies I want to work for.

Also, I think there is another similar scam going around with the number 1-866-973-9819. The message said that they were hiring secret shoppers and that I could make $50 per call or client. The number that had sent the message to my cell phone was from Florida, and these numbers are not registered with yellow or white pages either. Everyone please be careful, and do NOT! send any information or reply to these numbers. As for getting these messages to stop, try getting your cell phone # on the international do not call list. I don't know if it'll stop all the scam messages, but it's worth a shot.

Sent me a text message from another number asking me to call this one. I did not. I think the same people are sending me telemarketing text messages from different numbers.

The message was regarding making $100 day Shopping.

Never vote for anything by sending a text message.  Apparently that gives them permission to sell your cell phone number to spammers.  I think it was the Pepsi Vote people who did it to me, because they're the first place in almost a year I text-voted at and this and a dozen other started flooding my phone after.

Text message was from 305-546-0571 but listed 877-450-6614 as the call back number.

Message was a 2 part SMS as follows:

    Shoppers: Make $100/day!
    Undercover shoppers needed to
    judge retail & dining
    establishments! No experience
    required.

    Call
    1-877-450-6614

    Reply STOP to end.
