I finally have this squared away. I know I have been overpaying my doctors for the last couple of years. I even stopped paying the co-pay at one of them (only because they would let me). Finally got a refund check and it's legit. I know it's smart to be skeptical and do your homework nowadays but this is correct. So, let me explain. I see 2 Specialists in Lutheran Medical Group. I, also, see their Nurse Practitioners every other visit. I still get charged the same co-pay whether I see the Doctor or the NP because it's a specialty. But, according to my EOB (explanation of benefits) from my insurance company, I should only be charged a co-insurance when I see the NP's, which is a lot less! Remember, the insurance company has a contract with your in-network providers so that's what the providers have to follow. So, yes, I called and gave my address (which was already on the check) and my DOB which anyone can get and that was it. No extra info given. They gave me the names of my Specialists and NP's and Lutheran Medical Group and the dates that I last saw them to verify that my account was up to date. Now it's a zero balance and I finally got my money back! My other specialist would not let me in without the upfront co-pay even when they saw I had a credit on my account.

I didn't receive a phone call but I did receive a refund check for $27.48. No letter stating which doctor or date. The phone number 877-455_4778 is the same

I got a check too and didn't know what it was for.  I found a matching address for CHS, which is who our insurance is through.  See website:  http://www.chs.net/contact-us/

I received one check and I called the number when they mentioned it was a refund from my doctors office and they said the doctors name.. I knew the check was legit.. I over paid on my account.. Or also it could be they over charged you more than what the insurance allowed. Take the check cash it and enjoy..

I too received a check from Physician Practice Operations 4000 Meridian Blvd., Franklin, TN 37067 1-877-455-4778. one of the signers on the check is Kevin J. Hammond, SVP, Asst CFO & Chief Accounting Officer of Community Heath System of the same address. Can't read the first signers. The checks routing # is from Wells Fargo in Minneapolis, MN.

Still not sure if the check is real. Calling Wells Fargo in Minneapolis to check the validity.

Got a check saying I overpaid a doctor, if you cash it, doesn't the bank put your account number on the back of the cancelled check?  I'm not cashing it

Received check in the mail for the exact amount of my typical co-pay. Check came from Physician Practice Operations, 4001 Cane Ridge Parkway, Ste 6, Antioch TN 37013. 877-455-4778 was the number given to call if I had questions. They show my actual patient ID with my doctor (how did they get that??!), and an invoice date in February of this year.  I have not been to my doctor for 11 months. Do I need to report this to someone? I am not cashing the check, but I am going to hold it in case I need to turn it in to someone.

Check with your insurance company. If you have been overpaying co-pays for Doctor visits, you may very well be owed a refund.

But I haven't been to a doctor in almost a year. My 2017 statements from my insurance company show that my accounts were paid in full...and there were no over-payments.  I am owed nothing.

Then take the check and the envelope to the Post Office and have them send it to the Postal Inspectors (as I previously posted).

I actually thought you were being helpful until I read the last four words of your latest post. I scanned through the other postings before I typed mine. I did not look to see who posted what. "as I previously posted" is a snotty rude addendum to what would have been a helpful post. Have a good day...and don't get too full of yourself. Blessings!

Might still be worth contacting your insurance company.  It depends on the specifics of the contract between your insurance carrier and their network of providers.  The overcharges could be from previous years and were caught during an audit.  At least one person claimed to have verified they were owed a refund due to overcharge for co-pays that were not immediately caught by their insurance carrier.

    just wondering
Received a check for $5,   Stated it was a refund for over payment at Dr's office. Suspicious because it did not state Dr's name, date of service, or any info what so ever,   Was afraid to call this number but after much research and calling all  my Doctors,   Found It is legitimate, from a doctor I visited 5 months earlier,  The check comes from a billing service and not from the actual Doctor.

Got a check in the mail from them today.  They are now operating at 4001 Cane Ridge PKWY STE6 Antioch, TN.  What is strange is the account holder name on the check is Physician Practice Operations.  The name for the return address is Physician Practice Support, LLC with the same street address and city and state.  I know there are scams with checks being "washed".  Going to take the check to Wels Fargo and have them look at it.  They are still using the 877.455.4778 number.
