This number is indeed from a company called Allied Interstate. They speak terrible English and are very rude. She woke me up (I work third shift) and kept babbling about something. I said "I am sorry but I don't understand what you are saying". She became rude so I said "I cannot understand your English, I do not want you to call my number again, you need to remove it from your call list as you have the wrong number." She just hung up. I didn't know if she removed my number or not, so I called back. Another person answered and he did not speak English very well either. I explained the situation to him and he said "we mark number as wrong number already". I said "well it would have been nice if she would have said that rather than just hang up on me. She was very unprofessional" He made a funny moaning sound and he also hung up on me.

A debt collector. We've been getting collection calls for my step son. There's a few debts that are close to 7 years and he's just letting them drop off. Annoying as hell for us! Parents: Do NOT name your son after their dads, it sux later in life!

This is obviously a company out of the US and they will NOT heed the laws of DNC. DNC is another example of a great government boondoggle! The govt will not take care of you people! Just ignore them or pay the debt if you owe it.

Five years ago, ome guy that didn't pay a bill, then moved away lived at this address 5 years ago, and we occasionally get crap in the mail addressed to him, and phone calls from idiot debt collectors who won't take "HE DOESN'T LIVE HERE" and "NO ONE BY THAT NAME HERE FOR 5 YEARS" into their tiny reptilian brains or easily-erased don't-call lists. Why can't we send them an electric shock through the phone? :-)

A previous post mentions Allied Interstate debt collector.  Their web site states, "All calls to and from Allied Interstate LLC are recorded" and, "If you are not satisfied with your experience with Allied Interstate, please contact us at (800) 811-4214." Now read this: dailyfinance.com/2010/10/26/feds-fine-debt-collector-allied-interstate-for-repeat-violations/ by Jorgen Wouters  Oct 26th 2010 11:30AM      FTC LOGOA debt collection agency has been slapped with a near-record fine by the FTC for repeatedly trying to collect from the wrong people, collecting the wrong amounts, using abusive language and other unlawful practices. Allied Interstate, Inc., a Minnesota-based corporation with offices in the U.S., Canada, India, and the Philippines, will pay $1.75 million to settle FTC charges of repeated violations of both the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act.  Allied's settlement marks the second-largest civil fine levied by the FTC against a debt collector.

I have been getting calls multiple times per day with no message left.  So I finally called them back and spoke with a lovely women named Caroline.  I explained that I was receiving calls from this number but no messages were being left, and inquired what is the purpose for these calls.  She said she was looking for some named person, I responded that I don't know this person, so Caroline said she would remove my number from their system.  Let's hope that I get no more calls.

Called today and my husband called back.  Got a guy with heavy accent, they were looking for someone who happens to have the first name Betty and middle initial of H.  Told them had never heard of person and apologized and said they would remove our number.  Will see as can not continue blocking all numbers that call here which are scammers, collectors, etc.  No use to report to Do Not Call as they just then change their number including area code.  Wish there was a way to make it against the law for robo calls.

    Collection agency.
Real bottom feeders. I think they are called Allied Interstate.
They buy up uncollected and uncollectable (by law) debt, and try to harass people into paying.

I believe they are based offshore, so the DNC list won't help.

They use scare tactics and threats, and just generally make such a pain in the a** of themselves, that some fools pay them.

Just leave it. They will go bankrupt soon enough.

I've received at least 7 calls from this number this year.  I found out from information on this website that the caller was Allied Interstate.  I decided to call the number and see what the problem was.  I had no problem getting in touch with a live person.  I explained about the calls and who I was. After answering a few questions... nothing personal... I was told that it appeared to be a case of mistaken identity, and they would put in for a stop of calls to my number.  I'm taking them at their word.  Someone might ask why I didn't call them after the 1st call?  Maybe it took 7 calls for me to finally nip things in the bud, instead of getting upset about the calls.

I just got a call from this number. He asked for my boyfriend but he used his nickname, not his real name which I find strange because everything we do he uses his real name on his birth certificate. I told him he wasn't available but that I could leave a message and he said he'd call back later. I told him that my boyfriend is on call 24/7 so he may not be here but if they leave a name and number I could have him call back and he said that due to my boyfriend's privacy he could not do that so I cut him off and said "so you can't tell me your company or phone number" and he said the company is Allied Insurance LLC and I said "so you can't leave a phone number for him to call back" and he said no that he would call and I said "well if you cannot leave a phone number then don't bother calling back" and he said okay and that was the end of our discussion. I mean I understand not giving me information as to why they're calling for him but you can leave a phone number and that does not violate any privacy against the person they are trying to contact.

There is a big market in selling bad debts to collection agencies. When you prove to them that the person they want does not live with you, they sell the debt to another agency without telling them that the debtor cannot be reached. Some years ago someone with my name had a bad debt. The lender looked up in the phone book and randomly selected my number so that the debt looked more collectible and could be sold for a larger amount.
