- BobbyI just received a call from 877-488-1792 and when I picked up my phone it was ringing as though I had been calling out. A lady answered and started to tell me she was looking for someone but the call was cut off, for some reason, before she could tell me who. Frustrating!!! Caller ID said TOLL FREE CALL.
- Caller: TOLL FREE CALL
- Call type: Debt collector
- Bobby replies to Russ*60 only works for up to 10 numbers! I filled that up in a few days!
- BobbyReceived a call from 877-488-1792 with TOLL FREE CALLER on my caller ID at 8:45 this morning. When I picked up the phone it was ringing as though I called out. A person answered with a foreign accent and almost immediately a high pitched tone started ringing in my ear. I figured he was hearing it too, so I just let it go until he hung up.
- Caller: TOLL FREE CALLER
- Resident47I've swat away many collectors hunting for strangers for over a decade, and sometimes wondered why these legendary lawbreakers never got around to me. Well, they broke that streak bright and early this morning. Conforming to the pattern reported in other threads, the caller jumped off seconds after encountering my phone system greeting. I'll see how pesky they want to get and watch for a dunning letter next week, but I think this will be another skip trace campaign. I'll have my recording system standing ready for the FDCPA violations which have made Allied Interstate / iQor Holdings infamous.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If one or the other is not provided, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

- evelyncr| 1 replyMy husband just got home from the hospital since 12 15 14, and this call came in and woke him up, I called it back and all he wanted was my phone number. I called him a dirty word and told him he knew what i was calling from, and take me off,.
i hate these calls, and I am on the do not call list, and it seems like there is nothing being done, even when we report this. Cannot even understand him trying to talk- Caller: do not know and do not want to know
- Linda| 1 replyOn Do Not Call list . . . still rec call from 877-488-1792 . . . caller id! Did not answer . . . the "loop hole" is voice mail gives me the "previous contact" out! :-(

- Cobbscout replies to ChaseIt obviously doesn't work -- at least according to the number of spam calls I am receiving. I need new phones that have larger memory for blocked calls because my phone gets full of them too fast.
- useless replies to Russonly if you pay the phone co extra for call blocking. thanks for the "schooling"
- Nice one ! replies to Debt CollectorGot 'em stirred up with this one huh?
- apple and tree? replies to TerriSNice to see you instilled values in your step son. If you ignore them long enough they can't collect and they will drop off. What a country.
- the american way replies to Resident47| 1 reply"When your rights are violated by these goons, you can't "just leave it". You gather your evidence and you sue "
I think you need more coffee, just say'in - Resident47 replies to the american wayI don't drink the stuff and I think we could instead use amplification of your objection to practical responses to a predatory company, which I filed here just under a year ago.
- Resident47 replies to LindaNot a loophole, just a hole in your understanding. As repeated many times before ..... The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. The few remaining state lists share this limitation. Here are the DNCR service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:
National Do Not Call Registry Q&A
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry - Resident47 replies to TomThus I am meant to take on faith that you have extensive and unassailable evidence that a terrorist group is borrowing a phone number from a known lawbreaker in the collection industry, and will have no difficulty laying out your cards for the readers in this thread.
- Resident47 replies to evelyncr"There is nothing being done" because it's your job to control or bar non-sales calls as you see fit, and your complaints regarding the DNCR are entirely misfired.
