Receive a call from this number several times every day.  I do not answer.  I read on this site that it is a debt collection agency and Chase is mentioned.  We do not owe anything and do not have a Chase card.  Have reported this number to FCC.  Hope this stops soon.

I don't answer ANY toll-free calls. BTW, if this IS a collection agency, I understand every time you answer their call, the statute of limitations on the debt starts all over again. I ignore their calls. I have no money for food, much less to pay them or I would have already paid. I don't have a pot to piss in.

These collection people might as well get another job if they are relying on money from me to pay their salary. If I had money I would have paid them. But I don't have any. Barely have enough for food. I don't answer their calls and lawyer tells me there is nothing they can do but issue threats. Forget them, until you win the lottery, a lawyer told me. Go on with your life, he said.

Your lawyer should have advised you of the following:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

These collectors keep calling and I don't answer. If I had any money I would pay them. I am broke and my lawyer said I should ignore them because they can do nothing but call and gripe.

I answered this toll-free call, something I seldom do. Some foreign-sounding woman muttered something and hung up. Maybe just checking valid numbers to sell to telemarketers?

I'll get approximately three calls a day, and after going through this I still have absolutely no idea why. I'm only 17 and I'm in high school (and at least one call happens while I'm in class) and I don't even have a card or an account with Chase, which a lot of people seem to think this is. I have no idea how the other end even has my number and it's getting kind of ridiculous.

Scammers use robocall equipment that cycles through numbers; the scammers don't bother to remove telephone numbers from this equipment. And there are several scammer groups.
