- Rob| 1 replyI got a call from this number at my work. They claimed it was Bank of America with a "servicing issue". Called the number back, gave them the phone # they called and they asked for a co-worker. I told them that person is no longer here but that the message had my name, not theirs. Asked whey they could not contact me via online banking. They asked again if I was the co-worker whose name they gave, I said no, and they said they would remove the number. Voice mail and all sounded "official", but this is pretty fishy.
- Caller: Claimed to be Bank of America
- BBMI got the call on my cell phone during the day the number calling was 800-536-1584. Claimed to Bank of America with a service issue on my card last four digits ####. Asked for my birth date. On refusing she offered me this number and her name Karen B. and claimed she would mark my file to note I would be calling back. Would not confirm type of servicing issue. Asked for me by name. I highly suspect this is a scam. I am reporting this to the Bank as I do have a card with those numbers.
- KyleReceived a call asking me to call back this number, guy said he was from Bank of America and it was a servicing issue and his name was John Wolf.
- salthey call my work # telling me that servicing issue i don,t have a C card with bank of America
- eye| 1 replyHas been receiving a call unknown to us, # is 800-536-1584. I usually would not answer this type of call and today decided to answer them. The person was looking for my husband, informed him he is at work. I asked him what he wants, he answered it is a servicing matter with Bank of America. I said, i will inform my husband. He was asking for a direct # of hubby, told him he cannot talk to him for he is working. He left the number 877-488-7730, name is Joel Webster. I asked if it is his direct number, he replied no, there will be other people who will answer. It seems fishy number to me so I decided to google search the number and this is the page I got
- Caller: Servicing matter of Bank of America
- Heinz57 replies to eyeDon't give out any information to strange caller (like he's at work) it may not seem like a lot but it adds up. If he/you do have a Bank of America card/account, call the number on your card/statement to see what's going on. The number the caller gave you may or may not be B of A. Also do not answer calls you don't know and never call the back.
- JimI just received this call from 646-517-7329 asking me to return a call to the above number. Supposedly it was a Bank of America issue and they used my daughters name.
I did not return the call as it sounded fishy, particularly after I read these posts.- Caller: Bank of America supposedly
- stanley| 14 repliesbank of america left me a message to call them back regarding an important servicing matter. It is legit. I was stupid and forgot to pay my credit card. I had switched banks i used for automatic payments and forgot to update on their website. Thankfully they called me and i was able to make a payment by phone so my account didnt fall to 30 days past due and get reported to the credit bureau..i am lucky as i am trying to buy a house. If you get a message from this number make sure you call them back. I they told me when i called back that they dont leave specific details on voice mail due to privacy laws. If it would be a wrong number they were calling you dont want someone else to know you are late on a credit card bill...lol
- Caller: Bank of America
- William replies to stanley| 7 repliesI notice you never said you called the number on your credit card, or on your credit card statement.
- Heinz57 replies to stanleySo you know who the caller is, but you came to a website dedicated to helping people figure out who called them and exposing scammers. Somehow that doesn't quite add up. I also notice you type like a SHILL (lack of capitalization and punctuation when appropriate-grammatical errors) Why is that? Guess we might need the "Cone of Shame" for this one.Show image ▶
- JoeyDee replies to stanley| 1 replyYou should never give information to anyone who calls you, regardless of who they claim to be. Callers can fake caller ID information, both the name and the number that show. That number might even be a legitimate number for the company or bank they claim to be calling from, but they might not really be calling from there.
You should always call back to a legitimate number from the back of your card or your bank statement. Keep in mind, it might be the same number from your caller ID, but because you have initiated the call to the *real* number, you will know you've reached a legitimate representative.
You could very well "make a payment" to a scammer unless you call back to a legitimate number. If you didn't call back, you should check your card balance daily for a loooong time to come. - I 😡 Trolls replies to stanleyTime for you to sit in a dark corner of the basement with a dunce hat. Your post has shill written all over it.
- MzFish replies to JoeyDeeHey JoeyDee!
Good and common sense advise! - stanley replies to William| 6 repliescalled the 877 number that was left on my voicemail...not every call is a scam..my post was to prove that..i googled the 877 number left on my voicemail..i blocked my number and called it back thinking it was a scam but i was curious..believe what you want. I could care less..if all of you keep getting a call from that same number you obviously don't know how to pay your bills on time..stop the hate and don't be late paying your bills.although most of you reading this probably have a 550 fico score because you don't pay back what you borrow.
- BigA replies to stanley| 2 replies".i blocked my number and called it back" Well that just goes to show what you know, because you cannot block you number when calling a toll free number just as you cannot block it when calling 911. The point of your previous post was to make people believe that this is really BOA calling them. My credit score is somewhere around 858 when I checked last month. Just because yours is 550 doesn't mean that everyone else has a score that low.
- Mutton| 2 repliesOK..I think I'll weigh in here. I called the number and got "Thank you for calling Bank of America in response to our call. One moment while we attempt to gather your information." Now I am a BOA customer and my land line is the number listed for my account. "After a few "tone sounds" the bot came back with, "For security purposes please press or say your zip code for your billing address." I did so. It then said, "If you'd like to hear your current balance, and recent payments, press 1. It did in fact, give me my current CC balance and my last payment. It also gave me the choice of talking to a representative. I did not do that. The bot did not ask for my CC number, nor any other identifying information presumably because my phone number is the identifying info. OK...so one more check. I called the number on the back of my card and I got exactly the same voice, same instructions, same results, same everything. And yes, I will watch my account just in case.
Now that 646-517-7329 number that Jim received, that really is strange because call back gets, "if you'd like to be placed on our do not call list, press 1." What kind of bank call would have that message with no identification. I can see how everyone would be suspicious of this phone number. It seems like there is some spoofing going on.
Bottom line:
JoeyDee is absolutely correct. If you receive a call regarding your bank account or CC always call the number on your card. As for this one, well, it seems the number probably belongs to BOA but numbers can be spoofed. As for Stanley, well, his posts do sound shilly especially when he says things like "pay your bills, etc." Grow up, Stanley. People do pay their bills on time and if they haven't it's probably because of an emergency or some glitch in the system. 800 notes users don't need your preaching!
So I think JoeyDee should get the award for BEST POST. It was smart, quick, and just "HOPPING" with good advice!
I forgot to add one more thing in this horrible diatribe. Shame on BOA if they are using this number and not identifying themselves on the caller ID.
OK, I'll shut up now. - stanley replies to BigA| 1 replyYou're a complete schmo! Fico only goes up to 850 you idiot
- William replies to stanley"pay your bills on time"
"..stop the hate and don't be late paying your bills."
You are one of the "pay your bills" shills who thinks he or she has better morals than those of us asking questions, yet is really a liar and a fraud. - Mutton replies to stanleyBigA didn't say it was a FICO score. It may be a vantage score which tops out at 990. In case you'd like to educate yourself before resorting to name calling and looking like a fool, you can go to this link for an explanation of the Vantage score.
http://money.cnn.com/2013/01/24/pf/credit-score/ - CWG40 replies to stanleyPersonally I think you're a shill for the scammers behind these calls.
