- Tiffany replies to RLB| 3 repliesLaw firms who take certain precautions are not bound by the FTC rulings about up front fees. As well as it is not illegal for law firms to take up front fees. However we don't take fees up front, we start working for families before any fees are ever received. We are an actual law firm who really helps homeowners. We can't help everyone, but we help as many people as we can. We have a lot of successes. People shouldn't post things about companies that they don't know are true.
Yes there are companies out there who prey on those who are going through a hard time and that is abhorrable. We don't prey on those who are in desperate need of help. We help them. There are companies out there who do this for free, yes, and the mortgage companies will tell everyone they don't need to hire someone to help them. But we have a lot of clients who have tried for years to do it on their own and the mortgage companies and banks just jerk them around. We get results. It's not guaranteed and we have policies in place to protect those we aren't able to get results for. But we are not one of the bad guys. We do everything we can to help, and we do help. We are passionate about what we do and love what we do. We take very good care of our clients. We have a lot of successes that are very grateful for our help.

I did pay them and not only did they not get me the modification they promised they put my home into foreclosure. Use caution. Does anyone know if an investigation into their practices has been initiated and if not why not?

- TiffanyWe just want to let everyone know, that even though there is a lot negative things said about our firm on here, we take it as constructive criticism and appreciate letting us know how we can improve things so that people know we are legitimate and that we actually do help people. We are so passionate about what we do, and we don't gurantee anything, but we do have a refund policy in place to make sure we are not ripping anyone off. We don't expect our fees up front, and we comply with the FTC new rule about fees when it comes to attorneys and loan modifications. We get results though and that is a true and simple fact. The banks will tell homeowners that they don't need representation and there is the HUD approved free counselors, but they don't help you with the loan modifications. They are mostly there to answer simple and direct questions, and they are there for homeowners who have a debt to income ratio of 55% or higher at the time of the loan modification application. It is a requirement to take a credit counseling course with the HAMP program just like a bankruptcy and that helpline is what that is there for too.
I say again, you shouldn't disregard and defamate what you know nothing about, or in this instance who you know nthing about. If you called and spoke to me or anyone else in our office, you would realize that we are not "preying" upon people. We are legitimately making a living, BUT we are helping those who need it the most. I think it's unforgivable, those that prey upon others at their most vulnerable and take advantage of a desperate situation. We are not one of them. We are not like the foreclosure mill law firms or the modification scams, we are real, we work hard we get results, we help families stay in their homes. - Anonymous too replies to anonymous| 1 replySo what your saying is that every company out there that takes a fee in advance of doing a service are scammers? You don't know what you are talking about.
- Tiffany| 4 repliesBy the way, those good b;pgs are not fake. We are a respectable company and do not post our own "pat on the back" comments acting like we are the client. I realize there are company's that do that, but that's because they are ripping people off.
But those comments are from actual clients. If someone received our flyer, and needs our help, but wants to make sure we are for real then contact us, and we will get you in touch with satisfied clients whom we've helped, and we can show you the loan modifications we've helped our clients get. We would like to be able to help you too. We don't rip people off, we help them. - anonymous replies to Noelle| 1 replyI am sorry that you didn't get results. I would like to fix that or at least look into it and find out what went wrong. We don't guarantee anything, but we certainly don't make people lose their homes. The banks automatically put homes into foreclosure whether they are in a workout review with loss mitigation or not. It's because HAMP is not guaranteed and either is an internal loan modification, so if they can't do a modification then they have already begun the foreclosure process and they can take the house the second they deny someone for all workout options. These banks are evil. But it is not because of us your house went into foreclosure. But I would honestly like to figure out what happened and fix it. We did not put your house into foreclosure the bank did. But I want to review your case and find out what happened and take care of it. The loan modification process takes 6 months to a year. I have clients that were dealing and fighting with the banks on their own for 2 years before they hired us. It all depends on your particular bank and situation. I can tell you that Bank of America is the worst for time because htey have aquired some of the crappiest portfolio's in this country. Taylor Bean Whitaker, Countrywide, Wilshire.... because of this underwriting take so long. But I am dead serious when I say I want to right your wrong for you. Please contact me and let me help you. If you've been working with us already then you know how to get to the main receptionists and then ask for thunter let the girls know who you are as well so I can drop everything to take your call. I am so sorry if you are not getting the results that you want, but I want to find out why. We don't guarantee anything other than we will work extremely hard to help you. If you were promised anything then we need to talk. Please contact me.
- Tiffany replies to Tiffanyoops spelling error... I meant BLOGS not b;pgs
- anonymous replies to Anonymous tooAs much as you would like to misinterpret my statement, what you insinuate is false. I said "may" and "is probably," not "is" and "is," which includes the possibility it isn't a scam. *You* don't know what you are talking about.
- anonymous replies to Noelle| 1 replyOne settled and one potential case show up on googling "cc brown law firm"
1. Settled case = http://realestate.utah.gov/actions/46896.pdf
This is a cease and desist order filed 05/04/2010 by the Division of Real Estate of the Utah Dept. of Commerce to CC Brown Law Offices to stop soliciting loan modifications without a mortgage license. CC Brown LO was initially told to stop soliciting loan mods on their website, that a mortgage license (which it did not have) was required, but was later discovered to have continued the same on a revised website so the C&D order was issued. CC Brown LO supposedly paid k$5 to the DRE and agreed "it shall not become principally engaged to negotiate a loan modification at any time unless licensed by the Division." The weird thing is I could not find a registration for the law firm or the person on the National Mortgage Licensing System that Utah uses and DRE warns here http://commerce.utah.gov/releases/10-12-13_dre-nmls-deadline.pdf that licensees could lose their licenses if they miss the end-of-year deadline. It's unclear to me whether CC Brown LO is properly licensed to perform loan mods in Utah at this very moment. Perhaps someone can reply with their NMLS registration number?
2. Potential case = http://dockets.justia.com/search?q=C.C.+Brown+Law%2C+LLC
This returns a number of cases relating to "Brown" but only "Keehan v. United Law Group, Inc. et al," case number 3:2010cv00484 filed 03/05/2010 in San Diego, names "C.C. Brown Law, LLC" and "Charles Brown" and others as defendants. There may be another law firm by the same name so it's premature to assume it's the same one in SLC, Utah. Couldn't look at case details as a restricted login to the US Court PACER system is required but you can see a short summary by clicking on the "Keehan v. United Law Group, Inc. et al" link. Looks like civil lawsuit alleging a violation of the RICO statutes. Defendants enjoy the presumption of innocence as you and I do so go easy and it's not certain at all it's the same law firm in SLC, Utah. Anyone who knows how/where to look further is encouraged to do so and please reply this thread.
The Utah Division of Real Estate http://www.realestate.utah.gov/ and the Consumer Resources link has lots of useful info on loan mods and a link to a Loan Modification Complaint Form whose first page is a simple check on whether you even have grounds for a complaint at all. - anonymous replies to anonymousApologies on incoherent description as to where the complaint form is. Go to the Consumer Resources page here http://www.realestate.utah.gov/consumers/index.html and the link to the complaint form is on the lower right side.

- Howard S| 1 replyI told the law firm that i would post an online review. They did a great job!!! They saved me and family who have lived in the same house in Idaho for over 12 years from complete loss. Everyone is quick to see the negative but i am a living example of someone they truly helped. I will cut and paste my loan mod into the next thread so everyone doesnt doubt the comments. I hope this helps the law firm and stops all the negative comments above. Thanks to CC Brown for your time, effort, committment and ability to get done what I was not able to get done on my own.

- Charlie replies to NI have read your notes and have found the same exact thing has happened to me. They told me they had a 98% track record doing modifications and now my house is in forclosure. I would like very much to talk with you regarding this company if possible, my number 619-756-4468
- anonymous replies to Howard SIdaho and Utah both regulate and require mortgage modification companies to be licensed and use the NMLS National Mortgage Licensing System & Registry http://www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org/ as their licensing agency. CC Brown Law LO and its attorneys (Brown, Danielson, Shoop, Rasmussen) are currently not licensed to do mortgage mods in Idaho or Utah. Go ahead and post your loan mod. Perhaps CC Brown LO was licensed in Idaho in 2010 but not in 2011 so go ahead and post it and we'll have the Idaho Dept. of Finance http://finance.idaho.gov/Mortgage/Mortgage.aspx look at it. FYI, CC Brown LO's attorneys are currently not licensed to practice law in Idaho either http://isb.idaho.gov/licensing/attorney_roster.cfm
- RU| 1 replyThe problem is, the mailer looks like official government paperwork, like it is from the IRS. So there is no defense. It is a scam. Don't be stupid.

- BS DetectorWhen a "law firm" comes posting on 800notes, enough red flags go up to blot out the Sun!
"I have been ripped off and it will take years for me to recover from the damage done. Don't get ripped off too. "
