Call display only shows the telephone number.

you're lucky you missed the call.  Its yellowpages.ca collections.  Seems like no amount of reasoning or arguing will get rid of them.  
They send you bills even after the original deal is over in the hopes you will pay one. THEN they argue that since you payed one you agreed to another year!

Like several people here I had an ad online with them and the service was bad.  

These people designate your account by your phone number. When I set up my ad with them I told them that my YPG ad
  proof had my cell number on it and I wanted it changed to my landline due to poor reception at home. The rep told me to
 sign the contract and he would make the change. Guess what? He made the phone number change in the ad but didn't
 cancel the cell number account designation. Therefore they were billing me and I was paying on two accounts when only
 one number was active on the ad. After months of repeated attempts to straighten out the account with several different
 customer service reps, they told me I owed them $1500.00. The account was suppose to cost me $104.00 a month. So for
a period of 8 months with double billing which should have been deducted, how the feck did they come up with that bogus number? No solution has been achieved to date, and they have totally screwed small business advertising .

Said we had an overdue account.

YP online is unbelievable!!! They can find our email and phone number without problem when they are looking for money!
However, 4 reps and 1 manager later  (all within a year!)we are still waiting for changes to be made to our listing!!!!!
BTW: if you have a listing with YP, the reps we had, didn't bother to tell us we could make changes to our listing....instead they gave us forms to fill out and email to them.  We waited for months and still heard and saw nothing change on our listings.  We obviously could have made most of the changes ourselves!!!!
JUST tell clients that upfront!....don't have us waiting and wondering what the heck is going on.....not to mention, what are we paying you ALL that money for!!!??? to do what?
I asked one rep that as we met.....he looked at me and smiled, nodded and said 'hmm, ya. Well if you spend more money we can do more.'  Seriously!

The reps give song & dance routines about the amazingness of YP.  I'm sorry, but the results speak for themselves.  It's not worth it at all.  Once the contract is signed you may as well burn it....except for the part that they will be billing you monthly  for services that are so over priced its maddening. All the while passing you along the line like a hot potato if you have any inquiries.
Also, the email they sent regarding our account is useless...it doesn't connect....no ringing, just a click & dial tone???
Really???!! So, how are we to talk to YP ? And you want us to pay more $$ for more services......if this is how YP handles their own phone lines do I really want them handling my services?!
I would say money is better spent elsewhere and the high turnover of reps speaks volumes.

I just found out HOW to deal with them.
They phoned me one to tim time a day, telling that I owe a 495$ bill. [***]. I never sign anything with them.
I call my lawyer, and he tell me to tell them to SEND me a PROOF of the ''contract'' with my signature on it before I make any payments, 'cause I never sign anything anyway.
I call the recevables departement, and after asking the full name of the employee on the phone, I told them to ship to my lawyer the contract.
Took 10 minutes on hold for FINALLY tell me that, oh sorry, it's a bad mistake, I DON'T HAVE ANY CONTRACT WITH THEM.
Had to call the reclamation departement and fill a complaint.

So, DON'T PAY ANYTHING IF YOU DON'T OWE A CONTRACT!!!

They keep threathening me that if i do pay some money, i will be sent to the collection agency.

They will send you to a collection agency if you pay them?  That doesn't make any sense.  Did you mean if you don't pay them?
