- Michelle| 1 replyI have been receiving messages about calling said number back with no reference to what it is about but they want all sorts of info about me before telling me anything. Refused to chat with the rude lady on the other line. I have never received any mail or outstanding bills from any collection agencies. Have to watch our backs anymore.

- JB replies to DNS| 1 replyActually, it's HIPAA, Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. I have 20 yrs experience as a nurse and HIPAA does not preclude a debt collector from identifying themselves, by name, to the person who has answered the phone. Also, there is no way for them to 100% verify if they are speaking to the correct person, so I don't believe it is acceptable, and possibly illegal, by HIPAA standards, to contact a medical debtor by phone. Mail is more reliable and private. There have been quite a few changes and refinement to the law since you wrote this, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
- BigA replies to JBHIPAA has nothing to do with debt collectors. State laws and Federal (FDCPA) are the controlling regulations. Debt collectors are required to know who they are talking to simply because releasing information to a third party violates the law and they can then be sued. Debt collectors are always required to send out a letter, in the mail, within 5 days of first contact.

- Angry| 1 replyAs I see, they are collecting for medical bills, so they need to stop harassing me. For one, I have never received a bill for medical reasons & two, if I go to the Dr. I go to medexpress where everything gets paid up front. I believe this is a scammer due to the fact that they never say who they are calling for & alson because when you search the phone number, it does not pop up as an actual business tied to the number, it's gives this site as the top choice then some others.
- Anonym replies to Anonym| 1 replyIts a scam. I keep getting calls from them and my bill isn't even in collection yet and they keep saying its a different amount each time so I looked into it there is no Linda that works for ucb and I took it further and contacted a lawyer in charge of debt harassment cases and he looked it up and told me it was a scam and he can't do anything about scams

- lol replies to joeThey told me it was ubc. Its a scam. I looked into ithttp://www.stopcollections.org/?utm_source=google& ... +-+Exact&__egma[MatchType]=e&__egma[Network]=g&__egma[Device]=m&__egma[Creative]=89523757359&__egma[Placement]=&__egma[AdPosition]=1t3&gclid=CL_uuJ6t5c8CFVKDfgodl1MO9A
- its not justice if you're paid for it| 2 repliesIts a scam. I contacted a lawyer and the number has nothing to do with ubc. Its an illegal company trying to scare people into paying them by saying they are with the ubc in Ohio. I even went as far as searching for anyone named Linda (the one who keeps calling me) working for the ubc. Didn't even need a last name, nobody named Linda works there

- Shel replies to Angry as Hell| 2 repliesI got that same thing! Of course I didn't answer it... Never, EVER do I answer ANY call I do not recognize or is marked as "unknown" or "blocked". They can leave a message if the call is important or actually pertains to me (they NEVER leave a message btw) and if not, I block that number immediately. Problem solved! If it happens again from a different number, repeat said steps! I refuse to speak to them.
- Shel replies to Shel| 1 replyOh yeah, the "ahem" number that called my cell phone showed up as 1 (419) on my caller ID. What the hell kind of number is THAT anyway??? They did leave on my voicemail a return phone number 877-662-5128. I created a contact for that number and immediately blocked it. I also blocked that 1 (419) number as well. Annoying little money scammers. I ain't got no time for that nonsense! 😆
- Another spam call recipientIt AUTOMATICALLY-DOES-NOT-RING MY PHONE: On my cell phone, I've installed "Call Blocker Free - Blacklist" by NQ Mobile Security for Android phones. It is useful for non-business phones to only accept calls from phone numbers I want, incoming unwanted calls automatically do not ring (rings on the spam caller end of the call, but not the recipient end and shows in the app instead of the phone call log). I go to the app>Main screen>Funnel icon>Blocking mode> change it to: "Accept ONLY FROM WHITELIST and CONTACTS". Add the phone numbers you wish to receive calls from to your Contacts (keep your Contacts up-to-date as normal) and/or add non-contacts that you wish to receive a call from to the app Whitelist. With my phone carrier service, I also turn voicemail OFF so that it doesn't pickup a spam call after its set time to record.
UPDATE: I'm liking "Call Blocker" by embware for Android phones better for the same and additional capabilities. It has the added ability to add a blocked non-spam number chosen from the blocked call log to the unblock-whitelist, with a name so I know the name associated with the phone number. And, it has the added ability to allow one-click-calling a whitelisted-allowed number. If you want to download it from google play, it has a 'B' on a padlock icon. I change the call setting from "block private number" (hidden callerID) to allow "phonebook only" (only allow incoming calls from Contacts and Whitelist). It only works for Android version 4 or less. The latest embware version changed to a 10-second delay to open (demo) but seemingly fully-working version. - luz tamayoAsking for private information

- 444| 1 replyThis caller obtained my phone number, name, address, ect. From somewhere. Claiming that I owe 1200 for my visit to the emergency room three months ago. Whoever was on the line would give me no information or answer any of my questions. He was persistent and pushy. Unprofessional. He was speaking very fast and he had asked me if I was going to pay debit or credit card. If I just want to charge it to my credit card. He was rushing me, so then I stated that my insurance should have covered it. He asked me about my insurance and I told him I don't know so he said he's going to call me back tomorrow. Sounds very suspicious of fraud here, but their access to my information has me very curious.
