You can dispute the charge with your creditor, but who would want to give their credit card over the phone???  Especially if you believe they might be a possible scammer.  I would not give you credit card information, debit card or bank routing numeber to them.

You said "I read through the letter, but noticed there was not an address" followed by "I do know their address" so Matthew must have given it to you when you spoke with him. There's only one problem - that address is wrong (fake?) and if you sent a letter to that address, it won't get there. If you don't believe me, go to the United States Post Office zipcode-lookup website http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp , enter that address into the search engine and you'll get a "The address was not found" error message. Looks like Matthew and the company he works for do not want to receive US mail or be found. Weird, isn't it, that someone who works at that address can't give out a correct address to a prospective customer and the company won't include any address, real or fake, in the letter.
I found this ripoffreport http://www.ripoffreport.com/multi-level-marketing/united-first-financi/united-first-financial-jubil-7ae96.htm  If the link isn't live, you need to copy and paste it into your browser.

Who determines if the refund the company says you're owed is legit? The company? Your lender? A third party? Your lender isn't going to cave in and give you a refund in the $thousands without a fight. The lender has a signed, legal mortgage note in hand and will tell you to sue to get your refund. Do you think it's wise to hire an attorney at $hundreds/hour to sue a lender with deep pockets for a few $thousand refund with uncertain outcome? How long will the court case take? Months? Years? How much money will it cost you to recover that few $thousand dollar refund? Think it's worth it?

Disputing with your card issuer always has some risk they will refuse to refund your money since it was given voluntarily. This is why AE&D wants your $149 in their hands up front even though they say they'll refund it if they don't find any error -- isn't it simpler to charge the $149 *AFTER* they find an error?
