Received a call from "Russell". Says that he's been attempting to contact me for quite some time now, but he didn't mention who he was looking for.  Based on the information on this website, I'm definitely not going to call back.  I did read on this website http://www.fid.state.nv.us/New_EnforcementActions.htm  there was an order to cease and desist the practice of debt collection for multiple reasons, however that cease and desist order was only for the state of Nevada.  

Don't call these people back and DO NOT try to "work things out" and send money.  According to the cease and desist order, they are NOT a debt collector..

PEOPLE WISE UP ABOUT POSTING THEIR "NAMES!" They clearly monitor this site. With that said, if you post their "names" that may give them an edge to find out more information about you - perhaps they work different lists with different "names" in efforts to narrow people down? If it's a small group of  collectors/attorneys, they probably have several lists of consumers and use a different "name" for each one. When you talk about specific events pertinent to your story, it helps them identify you. Just a thought......Anyway, we'll call the guy that's nagging me "Turd." For several months, and almost EVERY DAY Turd has been calling me and consistently leaves messages. I have never spoke to "Turd" because I have 3 items in collection and assumed it was a debt-collector - looks like I was right...."Turd"is slick. It's ALWAYS "Turd" as far as I know - no one else ever tried to call. By the way, has anyone noticed that they don't use the verbiage "this is an attempt to collect debt, any information gathered will be used to do so" on their messages? Isn't that ILLEGAL??? "Turd's" always very friendly and casual, but with a slight sense of urgency in his messages. But very cryptic as well - it's almost like he's trying to intrigue me to call back because he has something extremely awesome to tell me, like I have a rich great uncle that croaked, and I'm the only heir!!!

I actually just posted a message, and when I submitted it I landed on your post....Same guy is calling me. I am NOT in Nevada, however. Read my post and see if it sounds like the same guy. Any advice on how/where to look into this and get him to buzz off would be appreciated.

I want them to stop calling

I was really freaked out when I first started getting calls from a Russell this past September (I really don't care if he monitors this site as he doesn't even have a real job) telling me a matter "may or may not concern me". I quickly looked it up and found it was a scam as I have a great financial history and these people would have no reason to call me.

They must think we're stupid, because he's been calling several times a week leaving similar messages up until today. I blocked the 401 area code number he's been calling one, but it turns out he calls from a different one everytime. I've reported these calls to the FCC, but these mean are scammers for sure. I just delete the message as soon as it comes up on my voicemail.

That's the problem with this country... "Oh Big Brother please help me..."  

So my tax dollars should go towards preventing phone scammers?  Thats a joke.  People overextend their credit, default on loans, put their personal information on a jillion websites, some scam artist gets a hold of it and you want the government to help you?  WTF?  Help yourself DB.

Have been getting calls from this number.  Last week it was "Liz."  Today it was "Lenny White."  Based on the other posts about this number, I am not going to call them back.

Be advised....all collection agencies must be licensed in the state you live in.
They also must have a state sales tax number, and state/county business license in your state, to attempt to collect a debt from you in your state.

They also must be licensed the same way in their home state of Nevada. 99%
of all collection agencies are only legally licensed in their home state and not licensed at all in the other states they are calling. (unlicensed activity)

For a collection agency to forcibly collect a debt in your state, the collection agency must hire a lawyer in your state to force a legal collection attempt thru the court in your state to get a judgment. . this is called due process, under the law in (your) each state. if the collection agency is unlicensed in your state, they will not be allowed (state law)to hire an attorney (lawyer) to sue you.

Someone keeps leaving message that are say I have an urgent matter.  This is a scam!

"Its imperitive that you contact us today" these are 2 violations inregards to the FDCPA,,,if that was left on a voicemail u might want to contact someone and maybe sue them

They are suing me also! Just got served court papers last Friday!
