- annoyed| 3 repliesI called back this number to see who had called, and the phone system these people use is pretty business-like sounding -and has the usual prompts, but make NO mistake; they are not Microsoft! Even my caller ID shows "MICROSOFTSTORE".
I truly wish the actual Microsoft would get around to them and shut them down. Most scammers, when you call them back, the number is invalid so you know they aren't legit. But these scammers can fool many, especially if you let your guards down and don't realize that you're not actually speaking with an entity legitimately associated with Microsoft.- Caller: "MICROSOFTSTORE"

Well, they won't be able to do anything unless people let them know about it.Quote:I truly wish the actual Microsoft would get around to them and shut them down.

If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be from Microsoft and felt it was a scam, you can help us stop these fraudsters by reporting all information about your interaction with them.
I can personally attest that they do shut down scammers, as I have reported many and watched them disappear within days, some within hours. - BigA replies to annoyedMicrosoft has gone after some of them, but first they are so numerous it will be almost impossible to get them all, and second, they have to identify who they are and where they are which is difficult with spoofed numbers.
- JoeBobRandom call; I didn't answer; no message
- AbbyI tried my best to waste as much of this man's time as possible. Nothing new; he's calling from Windows/Microsoft saying when I go online my computer is sending error messages, then he backed up and said it's when I try to update my computer, my computer won't accept the updates and now that's what he wants to fix. I work for Microsoft. We don't make these kind of calls. I told him this and he got a little defensive and uppity. I said "Look sir, I get a lot of these calls and I know you're not a real Microsoft employee. We are all after a buck and I bet that whatever your 'bosses' promised you is better than what you can make in a real profession. I ask, from one hard worker to another, please don't call me at this number ever again." He said he wouldn't from his call center, but that he, "can't promise other call centers wont." I then shared, "Usually the people on the other end of these phone calls get extremely hostile and start calling me a c*tn and a b*tch and a m*therf*cker, so I really appreciate you being a gentleman. I hope you're able to find better work. Please, I hope we never speak again." He said, "Have a nice day and I'll never talk to you again." One of the more pleasant conversations I've had with one of these scammers. 10/10 would recommend scammer to a friend.

- Fed UpThis is really interesting. I was logged into my Microsoft account on their website. I could not find what I needed so I initiated a chat session. It somehow mistakenly connected me with sales. The gentleman told me he was sorry, but was sales and could not assist me with my question. He said, if I would like, I could quickly get assistance if I called a number he would provide, as opposed to me trying to find information on the site myself. This is the number I called. 877-696-7786 They helped me find what I was looking for, didn't ask for any personal information, I hung up, found the information on the site and my issue was resolved immediately.
- Evelyn replies to Staple of communityI am very familiar with "Kevin." He was from 24/7 Tech Support, which was a phony tech company. I kept trying to get rid of him. He finally told me he knew where I lived and where my children went to school and threatened to come to my state and kill all of us. I told him what he should do with his mother and then never heard from him again. I like the way you handled this jerk. His mind must still be reeling!
- PissedI called this number trying to reach Microsoft Technical Support and they lied and said since all lines were busy I won a $100 Walmart gift card and wanted my info to send it and then I can be transferred to the support desk. Believing I called the right number, I gave my mailing address then they asked for money to pay for shipping and handling. I said no and to delete my info and hung up.

- AnnoyedAt first I was confused by this call because it was a woman with an American accent. I'm used to getting these computer scam calls from men with heavy foreign accents. I just told her to remove my number from their calling list, which she didn't do because I'm still getting calls from them.

- LjThe same number, this time from a girl who said my computer was being hacked by a foreign IP address and she work for Norton as a subcontractor. Said she needed to access my computer to "pinpoint exactly" where this IP address came from so they can block it! I said you already said it's from a foreign country, so just block it! She said it has to be done from my computer. She stated she works for JR Enterprises, a subcontractor of Norton.

- ElleSCAM. Received numerous calls from 877-696-7786 at our business. 6 calls from them today 07/17/2018 alone. Person always claims to be from Microsoft, says there's a virus on our computer and wants access to the computer. When asked for ID, which location, etc., they usually panic and hang up. They once forgot to mask the phone number and the Caller ID showed a persons name with South Carolina location, but it was the same spiel.

The first time they called I knew it was a scam and I kept him on the phone by answering his questions with stupid responses until he finally got frustrated and finally said: ''what kind of computer do you have?" I said, "computer, I don't have a computer" Hummm, he hung up on me, what a nerve. giggles but I had fun wasting his time....
