I spoke with John on the matter, he also called my brother and my sisters boyfriend to "send me a message." I called John, and we had a wonderful talk. Asked him what this was in regards to, his company name, his companies address, his full name. The case number since I'm being served. His company name he stated was NPS Arbitration. Looked it up on Google couldn't find any sort of company. Found a similar named company called to see if they had anyone in their office by the name of John Duvall they stated they did not and that there were actually a Child Support Serviced company. So, back to my talk with John. From doing research with my co-workers we found out a lot of information on this scam so we threw some "legal talk" his way. He couldn't give me a case number, and then went off on us stating "You're a gutter, I'm a Paralegal, I will always be better than you. You can fight this until you're purple (Yes, not blue, purple) in the face, but I will always win." Then he hung up. These people had all of my information from my place of work, my social security number, etc. I had to shut my bank account down. I had to contact the Social Security office. And I also called the police and filed a report. These people are sick, they're scammers, and the biggest low-life's that have walked this earth. If anyone calls you from an unknown number know it's these [***], and all they want to do is scare you into giving them money. DON'T fall for it. No process server is going to contact you about "meeting up." Mistake one. Mistake two, having your "representatives/process servers" who sound entirely too ghetto and the only thing they should be doing is being a douche extra in a Snoop Dogg music video. Mistake three. TERRIBLE acting of customer service. I Mr. Duvall, am not a trough fixed beneath the edge of a roof. Unless gutter is another ghetto slang word I haven't heard of.

Also, these people first started calling about a month ago, the number the first gentlemen left for me to contact him back on I found on a sticky note so I called it today. It was the number to Centurylink.... screw these people. They can go by different names, but I hope they know they are going down. :)

Same tactic as above.  Received a call from someone with an "Unknown Caller" ID who left a message stating his name was Daniel Carter and he is a registered process server.  Claims he is arriving at my place of employment - and then my house - between 3 and 4 PM. (This is really funny because I live an hour away from my job...) Then states that I can contact 877-713-4257 to talk to the party who retained him (apparently he can't give that information himself).  I spoke with him on Monday, was given a case ID, but he could not provide an actual legal case ID within my state.  Called the number today and reached the answering machine of one "John Duvall".

I encountered a similar scam three years ago with the same modus operandi.  Here are some tips I think might be helpful:

    1)  Some states require that process servers be registered in order to serve documents. Check your state guidelines on process servers - if they require registration, especially with a local county, ask for his county of registration.

    2)  Process servers CANNOT become involved until a case has been filed, and the case should (may even be must) be filed within your local jurisdiction. Many states today have free case look-ups for both civil and criminal cases that you can access online to determine if any case has been filed against you.  No case = no process server.

    3)  Process servers DO NOT call ahead.  Their job is to ensure the paperwork is delivered to the correct person.  They serve no purpose in calling ahead except to warn you ahead of time and thus enable you to potentially evade being served.

    4)  Process servers are used mostly in larger jurisdictions.  Most of the time documents are served via county sheriff.

Doing a quick web search turns up Mr. Duvall's name many times over associated with this act.  If you get a call from him or from Mr. Carter, attempt to collect their physical address and the name of the company they are really working for.  Get that information and a class action lawsuit will be on it's way.

Oh, one other thing - Mr. Duvall is tied to "National Payment Solutions" - aka NPS - a debt collection company based out of New York and Georgia.  Sounds very much like "NPS Arbitration" to me.

Ignore them and  block their calls.  No process server notifies you in advance of serving you.   This is a total scam.

Total scam.  Read the other notes.  No process server notifies you in advance that he's going to serve you.  That'd defeat the purpose of the service of process.  It's part of a two part process these scammers use.  First part is they call you and tell you they are going to serve you, hoping you'll get upset and want to know more.  Second part is they give you a phone number to call.  The first part is to get an address, so that when you call, the other scammer now has you properly identified.  It's a fishing system, more or less.

They call you again, tell 'm you know this is a scam and they can go to hell!  Say it loudly!  Don't let them push you around.

I got the same call at my job. This happened a year ago. And someone else i know had the same experience. I called the number back and reached a jonathan or robert duvall. Then the guy said he had to get mr duvall on the phone. I notified the cfpb and filed a claim. This is harrassment and a violation of the fdcpa. It is illegal to contact someone via phone mail or etc..in a threatening manner. Who are these people?

Got a call from an unknown number on my cell phone and at my place of business. Asking for me by my previous married last name. I haven't had that name in years and anyone who would really be legit would be able to know this!. She left me her name and my docket number G189766 and said that if I did not get back to her today or if she did not hear from the ghost company that "hired" her that I would be served at my place of business or residence between noon and 3...well ya know what sweetie this isn't the first call I have received like this and I am sure it won't be the last. I have family in law enforcement I know how its really done so you wanna serve me try it! Okay and I am done with my little rant. I hope this helps someone else. The first time I gave in...NEVER again!

These people call all the time, different names, all the same scam - I'm coming to serve you between certain hours tomorrow or the next day at your place of employment and your home.  NO, NO ONE EVER SHOWS UP AT EITHER LOCATION, although I've had them leave me subsequent messages that they went to my home and I wasn't there.  Wrong.  So, it's all a scam to get you to call someone and they will try to bleed money from you.  Don't answer the phone, don't call them back.  No one will show up!

Someone from this number called several family members yesterday, including my estranged brother-in-law. One left a message on my brothers answering machine. The woman wanted to see if we could plan best where to have me served, at work/home. I called this number and Jonathan (paralegal) said he couldn't give me info on the phone. Info would be in the sealed packet which would be served to me. He said he represented BMG. The woman who left message was named Michelle R. I don't know what this is about. Jonathan hung up on me. I called back. He claimed they didn't know how to contact me. I've been at the same address for 2 yrs. Jonathan became rude and couldn't believe a 55yo LPN couldn't find a job as his wife is a nurse and there are plenty of jobs. I have been out of work since 3/28. Please note I spoke with him this morning after 11am. I called 3 times yesterday after 2:30pm and got voicemail.

Got a call from Scott Weaver.  Called the number he left on my voicemail.  Then googled the number and saw this posts.  I then called a friend who works for a lawyer.  She said not to verify anything and suggested I called the police (non-emergency number).  The police told if I was contacted by these people again to tell them not to call me anymore.  Got a call from John Duvall.  Wouldn't give me any info.  Just that it was concerning a loan.  My only loan is up-to-date.  He got really upset when I mentioned I called the police.  He said that he is a legal assistant who works for a lawyer and if he gives the police papers to serve me they have to serve them.  Then he hung up on me.

Got a call Scott Weaver 877-874-4381 saying her was serving me papers and had schedule a time.   Right before that call received one from 855-244-7214 saying they were from the legal department.  Of what.  I went through this a couple of months ago and proved them wrong.  Now this - is there no recourse for us.  Already reported to the local police and the FBI.  Just don't answer the phone anymore.  These people are ruthless and horrible, horrible people.
