877 is a toll free number.  As such you cannot hide your phone number or information from being seen by them since the they are paying for the call.  It will show up on their bill as it is transmitted via ANI and not CNUM or CNAM.

Well, this got me a little rattled, but I don't think it's legitimate.  They said "hospital billing office" without saying what hospital.  And it wasn't a human, just a machine.

They called wishing to talk to me about a bill.  Wanted my social and all kinds of information which we never give out over the phone.  If this is from a Hospital in Kentucky, we have never been to Kentucky in our lives.  This is a scam in my opinion.

Same here.  Never been. Live clear across the states. My hospital never heard of them. Said Scam.

They call sayinng they want to collect on an unpaid bill.

This number is listed in an email I got saying it is MercyOne in DesMoines, IA. Here people are stating it is for a different hospital system. That’s sketchy to me!

I just spoke with an "agent" who claims to be with Bergan Mercy hospital in Omaha, NE.  First of all, I have not been to that hospital in over 11 years.  Secondly, they could not provide a local number despite it being under the CHI network, which is a local central billing office with one.  They wanted my full name and date of birth before the call could continue.  I told them that they called me, so they must have all of my information.  I gave them no info, asked for a local number and got 855-515-9372 instead.  If you look up that number, there are a ton of scam issues related to it.

This is the billing office for all of CHI. Their billing is atrocious. Waited 6 weeks for them to send me a statement a d they kept calling after the bill was paid. They are really screwed up.

This is a SCAM call. They say they represent your local medical facility. They are calling other states representing their local facilities too. Do not call back as they now have your number for continued calls. They asked for SOC Sec # DO NOT give it to them!

They called me, robotic at first. Then human comes on. Asks me for personal information. I said what is the call regarding. Would not tell me, said needed personal info first, I said I am not giving you my personal info until you give me information as to why your calling. Said they couldn't because of personal security. I hung up.
