I have never taken out a loan for my schooling and yet, I keep on receiving an automated phone call from Kelly Thomas. Nobody has ever had my number before me and when calling back after the 8th time that they have called, there was a disconnection after I had thought someone had picked up the phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated to get rid of these people calling me.

I almost lost 2,500 dollars to these people. Luckily, I made the payment on sallie mae's website (which the lady on the phone fussed at me about because I "should" have made it through her). I kept telling them I was up to date online and they kept trying to convince me that there was an error online. They said I was in default when I was NOT tried to send Something to my work- not to mentioned they were incredibly rude and threatening to me. Looking back, I feel like an idiot for almost falling for it but they were so aggressive it was hard not to. Fyi- I hsvd been late on payments and thought it was legitimate. They even sent documents through fed ex that were "official". These people are monsters.

I just got off the phone with Navient (i called the number from their website) who directed me to their collections department who did confirm that messages that you get from Kelly Thomas are in fact legitimate calls. They usually use that message for anyone who has a delinquent payment.  I would still recommend that you make any payment arrangements through their website. It does sound sketchy but it is legit.

Regular calls for a few months from "Kelly Thomas at Sallie Mae" and now recently from "Kelly Thomas at Navient." Same recorded voice each time. Nobody in this household has ever had or ever co-signed for a student loan, and we've had this same phone number for 10+ years. This is clearly a scam, but I keep Googling the number in case anyone has figured out the scam yet. (So many people do have Sallie Mae loans so these scammers would know that it would be rather easy to fake a lot of people out.)

This number #317 550 5589  from Indiana; has left message to call back at 1877 809 8533 RAYAN PETER FROM NAVIENT,  I don't know this people and keep on calling me.  As I read here, there are many more people who is being called. How do we stop this calls from happening. Does anyone knows...

Received a call from Private Caller at 317-550-5589 with a message to call 877-809-8533.  My daughter does have loans with Sallie Mae and is late with her payments.  The last time she was late, it was a real person who asked for her specifically.  The caller said, "This is Ryan Peter (or something like that) from Navient.  Please return my call..."  It could be legit, I suppose, but Navient (aka Sallie Mae) has to realize that any recording is going to be taken for a scam.

Voice mail message from "Ryan" to please return his call to 877-809-8533.  No other information was given.

Got a call from this number and do not have a Sallie Mae. Account or student loan.

Most definitely a scam. I have had 5 voicemails all the length of exactly 0:22. They want me to verify my student loan info.

Forgot to say I don't have student loans!

I believe it is Sallie Mae. Be smart, just call back their regular 800 number. No matter who you call at Sallie Mae/Navient they are going to ask for your birthday and SSN, even if THEY call you first. I've hung up on them before because they start the call with "this is xxx from Sallie Mae, can I please have your birthday and address."  You're late on a loan probably. Just call back the regular number on their website.
