- scammed-and-angry replies to RHall| 1 replyi got scammed! they told me that they were gonna sue me if i didnt pay that day it is illegal for them to say they will sue you if they are not. . i explained that they could not garnish my social security, he lied and told me they could. and also lien on my car. i foolishly paid them 300$ before finding this site. i made them give me there name, they gave me an entity # to look up on the california secretary of state business page. they show up as an L.L.C. they said there name is pas legal but the name everyone on this site says its allstate. (so confused). they claimed to have a lawyer, i looked him up on the california barr and his name does not show up. i cannot file a smail claims suit against them since i live in washington and law is it has to be in california. BUT im looking into lawyers about class action suit and to see how it works and if its possible. i know i need more than 1 person to even think of doing such a thing so i thought id see if you were curious also
- CWG40 replies to scammed-and-angryJust because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them.

My mother-in-law's Internet Explorer was showing a pop-up message that would not cancel, which was automatically suspicious. She called the number shown on the alert and was put in contact with a not-too-polite guy who began asking her a bunch of questions and demanding that she access a site named www.fastsupport.com, which would allow him to remotely control her computer - again, very suspicious. After I said i did not want to allow him to control her computer, he became irate and demanded that I follow his instructions. If i needed anymore convincing that he wasn't a Comcast agent, this was it. i told him i wasn't going to follow his instructions and that i was aware he was trying to gain access to her computer and he became even more irate, eventually hanging up on me.
Don't let yourself get confused by wht they say - don't do what they say. They are trying to steal data from your computer (passwords, login ids, etc...) or worse, install software that will allow them to control your machine at any time.
If your browser won't let you past an alert window, use the Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) to find the browser in the list of running applications and kill it. - unknownOk, this number did not call me, I called it. I had gotten some sort of virus on my computer that consisted of a million pop ups and a browser tab that would not close. Overtime I tried to close a the tab it would tell me to call it. I did. They asked me a million personal info questions. My daughter stopped me before answering too many and looked up the number. Said something about being a fraudelent company. How do I report it?
- MikeThis just happened to me today. I was trying to access my Shaw webmail and I received a popup saying that there has been some suspicious activity on my email account so it has been blocked. I couldn't get out of the screen so I called the number listed (1-877-812-5814). No matter how many times I asked what the company name was, I couldn't understand what he was saying. I think he said "Altitude Software" but I'm not 100% sure. He was polite but impatient as I wasn't answering all of his questions. He said he would need to gain access to my computer to help me out. When I said no, he said that I would need to call my local provider for assistance. After I hung up, I tried Task Manager and was able to get out of the locked screen. I used the reverse phone number finder and the only information I could get was that the number came from the United States. I Googled the company name and there is a company listed by that name but it does not have a United States location and it does not list this number for any of the contacts.
