DNC registry does not include companies that you owe money to or have accounts with. It is almost exclusively for telemarketing and undesired solicitation.

    Confused
Keep receiving a call from this number on my cell phone while at work, but didn't answer.  Interesting, I haven't had Quest for about seven years.  Actually, I haven't even had a land line in seven years.  Cell phone has never been with Quest.  Last bill was paid off in full seven years ago.  Even if it wasn't, isn't there a "statute of limitations" for collecting on a bill?

I received a call from this 877-818-1823 number and held for a couple minutes.  I was still on hold and finally hung up.  Decided to check the number and glad I did on here.

That's garbage. They call on my cell phone which is not through quest. Have you ever heard of spoofing? That's when someone can make a call appear it is coming from a legitimate number. It is a scam.

It sounds like someone is spoofing Quest's phone number. Look up "spoofing" on the internet to see what it is. Spoofing companies say it is just for fun (right), but scammers have tapped into it. You can get a call showing up as the White House if someone wants to do that. Scammers spoof numbers all the time to make it look like a prominent company is calling. So don't blame Quest, or any other company, for spoofed calls.

It is NOT Qwest Communications, Qwest got acquired by Century Link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qwest a while back. If you've had AT&T your whole life, beware this may be a scam extortion call to get you to cough up some money to have them go away.

Century Link also acquired Embarq (the former landline division of Sprint).

NO COMPANY that I do business with has my cell phone number. Even if I was behind on a bill, or had an old unsettled debt, (I have neither), they would not have this number to call. This is a complete scam call.

I got a call from them today.  Said it was Century Link and gave an account phone number that I didn't recognize.  I haven't had Qwest in 3 years and that wasn't my number when I did.  I called the number back and it gave me a strange sounding customer service line.  I went to Century Links website, called that customer service number and talked to a rep.  He said that the account they gave me didn't exist.  Makes me wonder how they got my name and contact info for an account that didn't exist!

Got a call from these guys a couple of minutes ago claiming they were centurylink and that they wanted to talk about my bill. They tried to "verify my address" and I told them that I wouldn't speak to them and that they could leave a note on my account and I would call them back. When I went to call them back in their number listed on their website, it said they were closed. So I'm pretty sure they were fake, but I'm going to call them tomorrow anyway to confirm.
