Got a call from this number on my cell phone, which is my only phone. No wait or hold - immediately the caller said something like, "This is CenturyLink, can you verify your address?" I said no and asked what it was about. He said he couldn't tell me until I gave him my address. I said no again and hung up. Called CenturyLink, and they verified it is not a number they use and there was no record of their calling me or any need to call me (my bill is paid up). He also said that CenturyLink doesn't know anything about this number, after checking on it. I do have an account with CenturyLink for Internet service.

Received a call from those guys, first, cannot find their phone number from CenturyLink to verify this is a legitimate number. Then finally they convinced that they do, and we agreed about a closing account cost. The weirdest thing is that they ask me to a $ amount, but can not generate a invoice for the charge. What a Business, very frustrating and rude people.

Beware of companies that change their name!!  Qwest became Century Link and their customer service smells to high heaven.  The 'reward' department is a sick joke full of ineptitude that soars to preposterous levels.  If you have any option for phone or internet service other than these idiots, take it!  I received an automated message many times on this number.  This company is greedy and too big for its britches!

Got a call from this # didn't answer and they left no message. After reading all of the post on here glad I didn't. I've never had any carrier other than At&T and I don't have any unpaid bills. And everyone knows never to give out personal information over the phone. They should already know who you are and should be able to tell you your address and send something in the mail. Never,Never give personal Information of any kind over the phone! Fell sorry for anyone who does, you will open yourself up to all kinds of bad things.

A computer generated female voice says the call is for a company other than mine, and the telephone account is not a telephone number our company uses, or used in the past.  I'm guessing this is a scam.

I also had major problems with Century Link, they sold me on the "free" trial. When I canceled  from being unhappy with the services I was given a $700.00 closing cost bill. Now I am receiving calls from the Qwest collections. The funny thing is Qwest is doing the collections, but when I bought into Century Link they told me they just bought Qwest. Stay away from their services people!!!

So, I got a call on 7/25/2013 08:43am, person asked me for personal info to look at my account for the final bill. HA!

I had called Century Link on 7/22/2013 to pay my final bill on the account that I closed.

The guy on the phone was kept on asking for Social, and My address. I told him he could send me a bill to whatever address he had, since I had forwarded my mail... "ah, no no, we can't do that!", Sure you can, I get bills in the mail all the time, I don't get calls asking for my info to pay bills, I get paper bills... "no no, that won't work!"

    Hung up on him.

Later, received a recorded message, requesting a call to 877-818-1823... Called the #, it said it was "century link" but don't believe it!! Always call the phone number on your regular bill!!

Got call from them on my cell. They had me on hold for awhile so I came here to check the number out and saw all the other people having problems with the number. They then got on the phone and said they were with Qwest and wanted my soc number not last 4 digits, so I knew it was without a doubt a scam.
    Do not fall for this!

Typical Qwest (now "CenturyLink"). They never have been able to accurately keep their billing records. Had same trouble with them years ago, and should've known better than to give them another try--just because they call themselves something else.  Most recently, they made an erroneous charge on my statement, admitted their mistake and stated they would clear it from my records; then, proceeded to charge me late fees, which compounded over the next (almost) one year.  The most incompetent billing department I've ever encountered.  I've got a credit score of one point short of the highest possible, so I'm quite responsible about paying my bills--when they're accurate.

Calls a couple of times a day but we don't pick up anymore. Sounds like a call center of some kind.

A rep answered the line after about a 5-minute hold. She said I owe them $107.00 for internet costs even though I closed my account two months ago and received an emailed confirmation that I actually had a negative balance after all was said and done. By the way, I still haven't received a reimbursement check for that negative balance from them. She asked for the last four of my social and then told me the mailing address she had on file (it was correct). She was also able to confirm the last payment amount that used to be automatically debited from my checking account when the service was active. I told her to mail me this supposed final bill so that I could dispute it. She said she would send it to the mailing address she verified and to call the number on the statement if I had any questions.

THIS NUMBER CALLING YOU IS NOT A SCAM. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was employed by a collection agency called EOS-CCA located in Denver, CO. This company was hired by Qwest (now Century Link) to do "Final Billing" for Century Link. When you had their services and then cancelled but there is still an outstanding bill on the account, Century Link sends it to us to collect on, and technically since it's not in collections they don't have to abide by the laws of the FDCPA. So they can call you as many times a day as they want. I will not deny that EOS is a terrible company. I don't regret quitting. Their employees aren't of the highest pedigree and they are likely to break the rules and make you feel weird. But they do have to verify your address (You telling them what it is) or your SSN in order to disclose any information to you. That is Century Link's rule. If you really don't want to pay and you don't care if it goes to collections just tell them they have the wrong number. You have no idea who that is.
