- GEM| 1 replyI got a message on my Apple computer telling me that my computer had been identified with suspicious activity and to call this number. I called and it sounded foreign, foreign accent. He told me I was in danger of losing ALL my data and apps. He offered to set me up with an appointment with Apple store where they were going to charge me between $600 to $700 and taje 5 days to do it. Another alternative was to have it done immediately online and a cost of $570 and taking only 2 hours.

To call the number immediately She called number, (big mistake)hang-up but made connection. No opt out of pop up available, no X out on screen with this number listed and stuck on page. Force quit Safari, unplugged computer...Restarted...pop up still there though computer is usable around it. Called our Apple service, cost $29.95 and will let them scan computer and reset Safari. https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/su ... p-hijack-safari - momofluvapple replies to Badge714God bless you, I guess I got antsy with all the stuff I read about malware, adware, viruses, scams, computer hijacking and such...I really wasnt sure what site my DD went to so I just pulled the emergiency alarm. Turns out Apple didnt charge a thing. Also scanned her computer for any other bad stuff, found it clean, and told her since she didnt gve any personal info..she was OK. Apparently her bank tried to walk her through that process and was unable to over-ride the pop-up. Now she knows not to even open anything that looks wierd. Thank you so much for responding with good info.
