Also, you can tell this is a scam because if you're going to be served with papers for court, they just serve you!! No one calls you first and tells you that you're going to be served.

In March 2012, I answered an advertisement in a local newspaper for loans offered to individuals with "not so good credit".  In my quest to resolve a financial issue, I allowed myself to be talked into sending money by Western Union to an address in Canada in order to get the loan, which was to be $5000.00.  In order to process the loan, the representative told me they must have a certain amount put down as a deposit.  With all, I send them 725.00 by Western Union.  The moment they received the money, they informed me the loaner has decided not allow me to borrow any money due to my credit rating.  It turned out to be a scam.  I reported it to my local police department, the office of the attorney general, and also spoke with a member of the FBI.  I called the newspaper which housed the ad and informed them that these "promised" loans were not valid and I had been cheated out of my money.  Shortly afterwards, I noticed a $300.00 deposit into my checking account.  I did not know what to think, but I figured it must be the loan company attempting to return some of my money back as I had threatened to contact the authorities if they did not refund.  I was advised to close my checking account for which the loan company had it's information.   Two months later, I decided to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy to try to pay off all my debts, which included some payday loans.  It was discovered that a company called HydraFund had issued the $300.00 into my checking account.  They were listed in the Chapter 13 bankruptcy and could have filed a claim to receive the money they send to my account.  I never signed for this loan and did not have any idea why they would send it to me.  As I mentioned before, I thought it was the scam loan company trying to return some of the money I had sent by Western Union.  I have received at least two calls from collection agencies regarding HydraFund - the last call being in February 2012.  I provided the caller with the Chapter 13 case number and the number for the attorney who filed the case.  Today, I received a voice mail using the last four digits of my social security number, my complete name, asking me to call the 877-842-9730 because they intend to serve me with a summons to appear in court but did not issue a reason.  I would be served at home or at work.  I called the 877 number and was placed on hold while the representative looked up the "case" number.  She returned to the phone and stated I was being charged with fraud because the loan was issued to my account and then the checking account was closed.  I explained the checking account was closed because I had been a victim of fraud and was advised to close it immediately.  I also informed her that HydraFund had received notification of the filing of a Chapter 13 case to repay all my debts and should have filed a claim.  The representative claimed her "client" had never received notification about the bankruptcy.  I told her that I have proof they were notified and I did not attempt to defraud anyone.  Who ever heard of a payday loan company that sends monies into a checking account without obtaining permission and/or signature for the person they are loaning the money?  As I mentioned before, I had no idea it was a payday loan, I thought it was the loan company whom I had given a down payment for a promised $5000.00 loan.  I am now aware to never send any money to any loan company in order to obtain a loan.  Additionally, I think it is highly unethical for LSU Collections to contact people and threaten to place criminal charges against them.  I am glad I was able to obtain this information on-line.  I intend to contact the state attorney general and other agencies to report these scam artists.

Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know

If you have received a call stating:

    1. You have defrauded a financial institution
    2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
    3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
    5. You will receive a court summons
    6.  Authorities are coming to arrest you
    7.  Anything similar to above,
     a.   Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
     b.   Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are   filing a complaint with the  appropriate authorities
    * File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
    * File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency).    [abstracted from another site]

Report it to the police.   If you used a credit or debit card, go back to the bank and see if you can reverse the transaction.  If you used Green Dot money pak or similar, your money is gone but you should still report it.

This is LSU, or at least what they are calling themselves now.  Basically they’re fake payday loan collectors
If you’ve ever gotten a payday loan chances are the scammers  know about it and have all your financial information.
They’re using the same old bag of tricks.
    They :
    1) Try to scare people into paying debts they don't owe. They know social security numbers, driver's license numbers and old bank account numbers.
    2.  Call employers
    3.  Take advantage of these borrowers' vulnerability .  They go after women, single mothers and anybody they think is vulnerable.
    4.  Constantly threaten to “serve” you with court papers.
LSU has a long history of debt scamming on 800notes.
They are basically phonies, posing as  bill collectors  and cold calling and  accusing people of not repaying payday loans. They threaten  arrest  continually.  They tell victims that they’ll be arrested  if their victims  don't immediately make a payment or provide bank account or credit card numbers.
Sometimes the pretend to be lawyers or members of law  firms or fake government agencies telling them they owe money to a payday loan company and threatening them with legal action.
Ignore them if they call you.
    Report them.
    * File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
    * File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency).
They continue to bother  you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion.

This "private company" has taken me through a loop. They state they represent Boulevard Cash which is an online payday loan company I went through 2 years ago. Took a loan out for $300 and now LSU is stating if I go through the court system it will be $1898 or I could give them my credit card number to have $175 take out every pay check for 5 months. lol! It all started when they called my distant cousins, threatening that I had a warrant out for my arrest for check fraud. When I called them and tried to make arrangements (very upset that they would allege these things to my family; however, stayed calm with them) they refuse to work with me and hung up. I thought I was done with them until today. I answered a call from my states area code 775 saying that he was trying to locate me to be served by LSU. He gave me the number of a "manager" to speak with in order to delay this process. I really did not want to call them and deal with them again; however, I did not want to be served at work either. All I got was transferred to 3 different people ALL who.. get this.. out right made fun of me, threatened me, and hung up on me. Mind you all though it was extremely difficult I stayed calm and collective the entire time. I was hung up twice and when I finally told the last person to please not hang up on me she gave me an address of  PO Box 308 Hartford,CT 06103. I could not understand her and when I asked her to repeat the zip code she said "What now you cant hear?!". "Now you're giving me attitude!" "I'll give you the number when you stop giving me attitude and calm down". Literally all I said "was can you please give me the zip code again".. I asked if the conversations were being recorded and she said they were. I REALLY REALLY wish I had access to these or could use these in some way to show how extremely illegal they are conducting business. These people claim to be a private litigation company and use intimidate and harassment to upset you. They also claim to be paralegals; however, they cannot say words correctly and are VERY unprofessional, rude, and honestly bullies. Don't fall for their scams. Being in debt with any kind of payday loan is not fun but know that just because you owe money does not mean you are a bad person. Don't let them make you feel this way. I have yet to have someone serve me any papers. I also found online a couple articles that Boulevard Cash operates out of Belize. lol Resources to consumers of pay day loans or fair laws to refer to are so limited out there. You will not find any info on LSU whatsoever but you will find plenty of adds to get an online loan for Boulevard Cash. DONT DO IT!!!

This is my 4th go-around trying at all costs to avoid making contact with this fraudulent company for somehow they have gotten ahold of my supervisor and others at my work, leaving voicemails. I've been pulled in by them to talk to and all I can do is reassure them this is fraud. This is getting way out of hand and I feel like there's no way out.
