- some guy| 3 repliesReceived a robo-call claiming there was an issue with my name and social security number at work. I work in a call center though, so not what to make of it.
- J. Tully replies to some guy| 2 repliesI received the same call on Friday. I called them back this morning and it turns out it was for a loan I took out a few years back. I was waiting for them to start yelling and threatening me I was going to jail. I was surprised they actually treated me with respect and it seemed like they really wanted to help. They gave me some money off the bill so I took care of it. I had no problems dealing with them.
- Slim replies to J. Tully| 1 replyCare to tell us the name / address of the company for which you are shilling?
Also, you might tell us why you searched for that phone number, if you were really happy with the service they supposedly gave you? - BLI received a call from this number. No idea who or why. I will report this number to the Attorney General Office.
- Anthony| 1 replyThese guys are scam. Do not be trust them. If they call debt they should have a validation of debt sent to your address instead of using harass calls

- Alfalfa replies to anonThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Phone number: 1-877-842-9754, a recording stated the name of the person with their social security number was in their office for a debt. I pressed option 1 to be connected to someone to inform them that this is a place of business and the person they are looking for does not work here. They started questioning me if her husband (they gave me his name) works here or not. I told her again, this is a place of business and she does not work here. The caller told me sarcastically, you're a really big help, great customer service skills you have there and hung up on me.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
