- John| 2 repliesGot a call notifying me that the password for my wireless account at AT&T had been reset...and that if I hadn't done this to call 877-844-5584. I hadn't reset anything...and subsequently logged on with the old password...which worked fine.
Is this a scam, or what???? - CC replies to John| 1 replyI just got the same message too. I didn't ask for a reset temp password. This is odd.

- r03 replies to Jhi got the same thing today through mail. decided to ignore it as I googled this 1-877-844-5584 number and it is not on any AT&T website. I will ignore it as if I call, I may have to release my personal information. It definitely doesn't sound right.
- ZuneSame here, exactly same thing, They just want us to call and provide them all our personal confidential infos. If we fall into their trap, who knows what's gonna happen next !!!!. May be we have to report that to the Attorney General for fraud investigation.

- SuspeciousJust got a call from "AT&T Fraud Dept" telling me that "a cell phone account was opened in my your name with AT&T just now, and we need your SS Number for verification purpose" the person calling called himself Peter Buxter, who said that when I call back with the requested information He will not be the one answering the phone.

- dsReceived a letter saying we owed A T & T money. Our A T & T account is automatically billed to our credit card so this looked suspicious. The address to us is marked "AUTO" which makes me thinks this is blanketed mail. This is from a collections agency and we never received any notice from A T & T. The letter said to call 877-844-5584 if we feel we are a victim of Identity theft. Seems funny that a collection agency would say that. I am going to ignore it.

I was suspicious because the woman who left the message, apparently unaware she was still being recored, "I'm going to terminate this sucker." Nevertheless, I called, and was asked lots of questions (they also read from my credit report). I was told thae matter would be investigated and I would receive a letter in the mail. I smell a rat.
- Mia| 1 replySomeone left a message today asking me to call this number. They said someone had tried to open a cell phone account in my name. When I called, a man started asking me personal questions...name, address, ss#. When I refused to give any information, he refused to tell me what was going on. I said fine and hung up.
