- Ashlan| 2 repliesI have been receiving phone calls from 904-416-0763 or 877-847-2530 JBS Recovery. They sound pseudo or quasilegal judging by the language they use and also have some personal information about their target. They probably buy people's personal information from payloan applications or any other source and try to extort their target into paying them over the phone in order to avoid further "legal action" I asked them to send any legal papers over the mail to be considered serious and they say that the case is long overdue and they are trying to help. The call employers and or any other phone number related to their target to intimidate with the same legaly threatening jargon leaving massages. It looks like an ongoing scam. Be careful.

- 60tough| 1 replyI have received calls from JDS..theyre saying I had a payday loan from 2009...and if i dont pay immediatly they will file FELONY charges against me...whereas a couple days before the caller said that a process server would serve me with a summons....a summons is a long way from a felony warrant...sounds
like they are trying to scare me.- Caller: JDS
- Alfalfa replies to 60toughYep. Debts are civil and not criminal matters.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- McCloudJDS Legal Services called for asked for me. And they told me I was a red flag and to call back to get this straightened out or there will be a warrant out for my arrest. I called back to spoke to Michael Sullivan with the 877 number below and He told me the same exact thing with a bounced check out of state back in 2009. And I owe almost 900 dollars including interest from over the years. He tried to get money out of me but I am not working and I have no way of paying it. Plus, I can remember all the way back in 2009 and I never lived in Florida at that time. (They don't know that). So he gave til 7 pm est to paid the balance or turn myself in by that time because the warrant will be issued by that time. Then, I read everyone story from this site and call BBB in Jacksonville, Fl and then inducted an investigation with FTC for harrassment. The woman in the FTC told me that it is a scam right along with the payday loan company called Summit Group LLC. And the next time when they call to NOT answer or answer and tell them that I filed a complaint with FTC and the investigation will be conducted. So when you get any of these numbers on these site. Call FTC and file a complaint

- RosemaryWe have received numerous calls from this number and from Michael Sullivan, looking for another person with the same last name. I tell them they have the wrong number and they keep calling and leaving mesages. I called back to the 877-847-2530 number and told them they have the wrong number for the person they are looking for. This morning when I called back to that number (after yet another message on our answering machine) I got a recording that said it's not a working number. So I called the number that actually appeared on our caller ID which is a 904 area code. Michael Sullivan (so he said) answered the phone and gave a new number to be called back on. 877-544-4294.
