These calls are not legit.  They have tried the same thing from me about collecting money that I apparently owe to a check advance place. They said if I didn't pay them that they would turn me in to the local sheriff's department for defrauding a creditor.   I called my sheriff's department and they told me it was a scan.  I have worked in a cash advance place myself. We were never allowed to threaten with legal action. We could only take out a claim for wages to be garnished. It would take six weeks Some time for this to go through. My advice to anyone don't give them anything via wire transfer, debit card, or credit card. Call your local sheriff's department and report to them what has been going on. Make sure you take down notes and numbers they've called from. These people even sent me a claim via email. A real company will do it by mail. They were clearly fake.
