I rec'd. a call this evening from this number from a Russ Silverberg saying he needed to hear from me or my attorney and needed a verbal answer before he sends out paperwork to the city I live in. This phone number was the number he left however my caller ID shows 716-656-8088. WTF and who is this character.  Anybody else getting calls like this?

Some guy called me from this phone number, said his name was David Michael Anthony and he was from "The Legal Department" and rambled off a case number and for me or my attorney to call him back. So I called back just for kicks and I asked the operator what this was in regards to. The operator didnt want to tell me their company name and that they were just a law office. I gave the person my name and the dumb guy put me on hold and never came back... so i hung up. I have had many calls like this before calling me while I'm at work so I knew who this guy was before I called. Its just a debt collector trying to use scare tactics to con you into paying money on old debt saying they are going to sue you and your family when they really arent attorneys at all... DONT GIVE IN!

hi all i got this call will first they called my brother and told him that this mr reese is a lawyer and told him about a past debit of mine so i called this guy and he said i was going to get served papers unless i pay  i told him i would call him after work he said he need a call by 3 pm . my time i called and he did not answer it is bs

i got a call like that yesterday.....  its a debt collector.  legally you dont have to talk to them.  they are a third party and you dont owe them nothing.  you owe the original party.  and for that matter i have my own legal party that really knows the law. dont be scared or call them back.

I got a call from them today. The debt is not mine so they were really rude and threatened to file harrassment charges on me cause i was askin questions they wouldnt answer!! They would not tell me what type of business they were but they threatened to serve my bf a summons if he didnt call them back. I have never talked to a ruder person yep good old northeast offices. They wouldnt tell me anything then told me to call back from an unblocked number.

I got the same message on my machine. Good to read about all the [***] here as I don't owe a penny in debt. Next time they call, I can tell them to go Fvck off!

These people are a collections agency that try to collect debt that they bought from other companies.  They have to request proof that you are the person who owes the debt and if they do not they are unable to take legal action against anybody.  Request in writing that they provide you proof of the debt owed (ie, a contract signed by you, bank statements, credit card statments, etc.).  I am pretty sure their harassment is illegal.

I meant they have to PROVIDE proof, not request it.  You, the call recipient request proof!

My daughter received a message from this company yesterday.  They have the nerve to say the account number is QL2100 followed by her social security number. My daughter just turned 18 and doesnt owe any money, she went away to college and had phone service opened in her name.  I believe thats how this company obtained her name. I was glad I brought up the comments on this page and realized it was a collection company.  I guess they just randomly find names and try calling to see if someone will send them money.  If she would have called and given them her social I cant imagine what they would have done.  Thanks to everyone that took the time to put up their comments.

Someone called my Grandmothers house looking for my mother and then asked for me.  I was told to let my mom know she was in legal trouble.  They sound conviencing with all their "facts" but it is just a collection agency.

I received a call from an individual reportedly by the name of Peter Steele threatening leagal action from an unknown creditor. They refused to provide a corporate name or address. Calls from this number should be considereed fraudelent

got a call from them a month or so ago,ignored them because of these posts,and was served a subpeona at my job today!!  How embarrassing!! I now have a court date,for next week,and am not looking forward to it.

I received a call from these guys too.The person I was talking to told me I had business with them regarding my financials.At first I was unsure as to who they were,after looking further I discovered that they were handling a financial matter of mine,I resolved it!I would have to imagine anyone here getting calls from these people should probably just pay their debts and avoid the original call to begin with??

David Michael Anthony left a message on a voicemail for a number that has not been mine in almost 2 years. It belongs to my exhusband. The message stated he was from Northeast Offices Legal department and if I wanted to avoid litigation I needed to call him asap. I found out about the messages he left on 02/06/09. I called back. He told me he was a lawyer and I was being sued unless I pay $1463.76.  I could pay w/ a line of credit because he was in New York.I told him I had no idea what he was talking about. He stated he did a background check on me and they could take 25% of my wages pre-tax and or my tax refunds. He said I had 6 months to take care of this legally. He also stated that he was going to file for litigation on monday 02-09-09. I researched him. He is not a lawyer. He is a Zombie debt collector.

Yea, they called me a few times lately. First time they said they were at the courthouse (in my county) processing the paperwork for a lawsuit against me. I went by the courthouse just to check and sure enough, NOTHING. Is that legal??? They said they would take me to court...on and on with threats. They say I made payments in the past and that proves it was me now I better pay them some money. Huummmmm...dont think so. Isn't there a law that says these types can not make false claims or statements over the phone or in writing?

This person called me tonight, by the name of Michael Rentoul, claiming to be from the Fraud Department and stated he had paperwork he was filing in the morning (which this was on a Friday night so I knew that was not right) in the county I lived.  The thing which tipped me off is they did not have my correct address and I lived in the next county over.  He stated that it was a debt from 2001 and said that I needed to give him all my information or he was going to send the papers in to that county the next day.  He claimed to be an attorney.  The thing was is he CLAIMED to know all my info but said that he just needed my "statement" before he sent the paperwork to the county.  He DID say that he was in New York.  I put him on hold so many times to confer with my boyfriend that at 9:15 he hung up.  Which tells me he was not on the up and up.  He probably was supposed to clock out at 9:00.  What attorney does anyone know that works until 9:00 on a Friday night!  They have to be scammers!!!!  Beware and don't give them information or your money

My father has received several phone calls from these folks. They state they are trying to track down my sister becasue they are trying to collect a debt. Hello. Can you say violation of the the law?? I tried to call them to tell them to stop harrassing my elderly parents and then told them that they needed to send documentation to me sister that she is fact owed THEM money. They stated they had. I said per my sister she never received it so they should send it agin. The man then said to give them her address!! Hey, wait, I thought you just said you had sent something to her address. Guess I caught you in a lie huh> At which point he started screaming at me an hung up. LOL I told my sis to make sure if she spoke to them to 1. DO NOT acknowledge the debt. SImply state they need to send prrof she has a debt with THEM and not what ever previous creditor they try to bring up and 2. write a letter of complaint to the Attorney General of her state and have dad write as letter to include as well. The AG will then contact the agency. We all need to do this as the more complaints an AG receives the more likely they are to take legal action to prevent the agency from conducting business in their state. Additionally, these folks try to represent themselves as lawyers. It was clear from their behavior they are NOT. No lawyer would yell and hang up on you. A lawyer wants to resolve the issue. Of course in the best interests of their client, however they don't want to risk being sanctioned by the courts or dis barred becasue they were verabally abusive.
