This company called my Tenant looking for my son. They were posing as the US Army and stated that it was urgent that they contact him. First of all my son was never in the Army. (he was US Navy) We called C.I.D.and JAG to inform them that this company was posing as the US Military. I then called the number given to my tenant. The following was the extent of the call.I asked to speak to this Mr. John Freedman and was given the runaround. I finally told them why I was calling and asked them why they are calling and harassing my tenants, They told me that was the last address they had for my son, I then told them they were idiots and that he had not lived at that address since he enlisted in 2001.They would not tell me why they were calling other than to say that If I didn't give them contact info for my son I would be in legal trouble. I told them to go ahead and sue me. I also told them I had given their name and number to CID and JAG because it was against the law to represent themselves as Military Personal.They then told me that they had branches on Different Bases and that I didn't know what I was talking about, but that I was required to give them any and all info on my son, I again told them to take me to court.
Something needs to be done about this company and their tactics, they cannot bully people and threaten them to get what they want.They need to be shut down, no legit business does things this way....

I TALKED TO THE SAME GUY JOHN FREEDMAN. HE CLAIMED HE WAS AN ATTORNEY IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK. YET I LOOKED HIM UP IN THE NEW YORK STATE BAR REGISTRY AND HE WAS NEVER TO BE FOUND. DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE. REPORT THEM TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES. THEY CLAIM TO BE ACTING IN STEAD OF THE US GOVERNMENT AND THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY MISREPRESENTING THEMSELVES. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A BULLY COLLECTION AGENCY. DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM. CONTACT THE PROPER AUTHORITIES.

I just got a call from this number, they left a message stating that they were calling from Northeast Law Firm and her name was Puris. They asked me or my attorney to call back with some stupid case number. I do check these numbers all the time and it is just a stupid debt collector. Yeah, I have debt...but right now, who really doesn't. I won't call them back...at least not yet.

WHAT WAS THE COURT DATE FOR? FOR IA SLO GOT A CALL FROM THEM INHOUSTON, I DO NOT LIVE IN THAT STAE ANYMORE

You don't know what people's circumstances are for you to be calling someone a loser!

Received a call from Buffao, N.Y. from David Michael Anthony at Law Office of Michael Rentoul. Address at Northeast Offices in Seneca N.Y., 1-877-6648 ext. 115 Claimed he represented B of A  and wanted to collect $8700.00 for a 1978 default on a Master Card (bogus).  Told me that I had been investigated by the attorneys there, listed my previous addresses and other personal information. Accused me of defrauding creditors and denying it. By not cooperating I would be served by my County Sheriff's Office with written notification of a lawsuit and a court summons in my county and state of residence (which he named)....and hung up.

This place claims to be a legal department, and the people there are paralegals, in short they are just another one of the famous NY(Buffalo/ Cheektowaga area) bottom feeding collection groups, there address lists as 2448 union rd, Cheektowaga NY, funny quite a few other places have this same address as well, “the Offices of Goldstein & Rath” also has the same address listed. They called claiming I owe a debt to a pay day loan company, one that is located in the Bahamas, I asked for debt validation, via the mail, they refuse, saying they already sent it, when I asked when, they just change the subject and get rude. I wonder how a legitimate collector can even try to refuse debt validation in the mail, they have to provide proof that they are legal to collect for the debt, and that the debt is mine, I honestly have no recollection of the company in question. I even asked if they where a collection agency and the say no, they are paralegals working in a legal department. I have dealt with legitimate collection agencies in the past and getting validation in the mail is my right, and never had  any problems before. Something seems very fishy about this. Frank Winters was a person i spoke with,nice at first, but when i mentioned the pay day loan company in question is located outside the U.S., he says yeah, they are all over. Then i asked how can a place collect on an unlicensed transaction, by a company not even located in the U.S. He just got rude after that and said one way or another this will get handled, i said ok, mail be validation, then i said good bye.

I've been getting calls from these people too.  They have old debt, some of the accounts, (mine, for instance), was an error on the part of the original company.  These people purchase write off accounts for pennies on the dollar and attempt to extort money from people with threats, lies and insults.  So, person who pays their bills, perhaps you should know what you are talking about before you speak.

Hi all I just received the same phone. Little does he know this phone call can get his company sued. I work for a credit repair company dealing with collection agents all day, every day. It is ILLEGAL to call someone on their cell phone, it is illegal to misrepresenting themselves, it is illegal to to threatening  to do anything, i.e I will take you to court if you don't pay, I will file with courts if you don't and so on. It is illegal to call you at work if you tell him you can not receive personal call, and he can never ever give any personal information about you or the situation to any 3rd party that includes mother,sisters,children brothers. All you have to do is send him a validation of debt letter making him provide and prove it's your account and what I am doing as we speak is send a cease and desist letter certified mail.If he continues to contact me after he receives this letter I will sue him for harassment and violating my rights.

Here is scope! this is a collection agency out of New York the name is Northeast Collection Agency, they are subsidary of Caine & Webber (searh the internet) they are not a law firm, when they called me they said we are filing a L7 against you, I could find no legal term or ref to an L7 - I became suspiscion, then when I asked them to send me documentation of the monies owed a breakdown, they became hostile! I would rather they take me to court! I will take a chance on the JUDGE. I also have filed a complaint with the VA Attorney General and NY Attorney General. The may be legit but they are not a LAW FIRM and the way they do business is to strong arm you and for me that's BS. We as consumers have rights to even if we DO OWE MONEY - do not let them intimidate you, or be disrespectful to you or strong arm you - CALL THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN YOUR STATE!!!!!!!!

look forward to it, why not, the Judge MUST be fair and also get a Lawyer even legal aid will help.  

and if you do work for them! please tell them that everyone is not an IDIOT!! like they think! and there are a whole lot of lawyers, doctors, teahers, scientist, preachers, professors, accountants, etc WHO OWE MONEY!!!

Having read the other comments, I too have received a call from 'Northeast Offices' NYC. They were quite rude as well and threatened if I did not reply by end of day with a check, they would take me to court and costs would escalate to over $10K!  This supposed debt was over 14 years ago...asked them for the documentation which they refused claiming it would cost mega dollars (of my money) to research and deliver.  When I asked for their website, the guy put me on hold and had to ask someone else for it.  Then said it had 'crashed' that very same day!  I even Googled the address...in the middle of some trucking offices...that certainly isn't an official legal office...not replying!  We'll see if they pursue...

Well I owe a billing with them and now I cannot even get a hold of them at any of the numbers not the 877 number or the 716-656 number nothing.. and well i have new information to give to them that I want to give them to pay the billing monthly so now I am beginning to wonder really.
It seems I cannot get hold of anyone states when I call the 877 number cannot be completed as dialed and when I call the 716 number it is a constant busy signal so did they go out of business??

i payed the settle only to find out that they are fake and take your money. i got a call from the actually collection agency that delt with the account. did some more diggin and found that they take past due accounts and claim they bought it from them. they never payed the money to the company, they kept it for themselfs. so now i located em and takeing them to court for harrasment and theft
