The number belongs to "Midland Credit Management", a collection company.

got a cryptic phone call at my work site.  returned call- it seems they can't skip trace correctly.  The person owing the money is not me.  I never had a credit card from their client.  They hung up on me!  Usually it's the opposite.  In this day of identity theft, I was worried about this effect on my credit rating and was trying to identify where the weak link was to make  sure I was not effected.  That is when I was hung up on.  I still do not know how I got identified- the last four digits of the flakes social are totally different from mine

These peopled called on many occassions each time I told them I was not the person they were trying to reach. They would always hang up on me never answering questions. I finally one day said I was that person and then I managed to get a phone number,company name and extension of a person named Diana and that they were collecting for Aspire Credit Card. When I admitted to not being that person I was yelled at and once again hung up on. I called Diana back and she threatened me with a lawsuit. Do not deal with these people at all. I wish I was smart enough to know how to get these people.

Call came from this number 877-864-3526. On caller ID came up Unknown caller.  If not answered keep callling.   Claimed to be collection agency for Bank of America. Called Bank of America, they do not do business with this company.   Calimed I had to make payment arrangements  today with in hour or they would seek legal action.   When I asked for more information, caller read a prepared statement about calls being recorded and hung up.  
Called local police dept and State Attorney General office, and reproted, harassment call and threats.   Caller had all my personal information.  
BEWARE

send them a certified letter stating that you are going to report and take legal action against them due to the fact the are not following the FDCPA . Sending it certified will get them off your back

Same routine as above - an Amy Daniels calls around 11AM from Midland Credit Management 877-864-3526 x233393 to advise we owe $2654.00 on a Gold Sears card from 1999. Two legal notices have already been sent to a nearby address(but not my address)in town - and are the last 4 digits of my SSN xxxx?

calling with no number on phone

Recieved a call from a lady who identified herself as Mary Jane at extension 43502. She stated she was from MCM and she was looking for my roommate. When asked for the Company name she refused to give me anymore than MCM stating that it was confidential information and that it was a legal matter. I informed her that the name of her company was not a confidential matter and that it was, in fact, a matter of public record. I was not asking what the matter pertained to, just the name of the company. She continued to refuse to give anymore than MCM as the company. I took the phone number and informed her I would pass it on to my roommate. And immediately googled the company Acronym and phone number which led me to your site.

I keep getting phone calls from this company.  When I answer the phone I hang up on them.  On the other hand they have talked to my husband and gave him all kinds of information.  Now they call outside of the legal hours and legally they cannot talk to even a spouse.  I don't even know what creditor this belongs to.  They are starting to get nasty.

Had a woman from MCM named Boyd(sp?) at ext. 23047 call here from 1-877-864-3526 and threaten to garnish my wages.

As far as I remember from what I've read in the past, a collection agency is not allowed to garnish wages or make those kind of threats over the phone. Can anyone else verify this or advise?

MCM Called trying to verify my husband's information, and I informed "Barbara" that she would need to speak with my husband, not me because I was not familiar with the card she was calling about.  I then called my husband (because the UNKNOWN number keeps calling our house) and told him that I have finally talked to a human (typically the recording hangs up on us) and he has NEVER had a CitiBank card, EVER! They threatened that if he did not contact them within the hour, they would take "legal actions".

"Josh Springer" from MCM called, asking for my landlord.  The conversation was awkward, as he didn't want to give me any information regarding his reason for calling.  He did give me a number 877-864-3526, extension 43519.

I've been receiving harrassing phone calls from them as well... Aspire Visa card. I tried to call them and they don't even have me on file. THIS COMPANY IS RIP OFF AND I'M REPORTING THEM AS WELL TO FDCPA.

Called at 10:36am. I have got calls from them before but never answered because it come up "unavailable unknown number". I got Angie from MCM ext. 43542. I said I wasn't who she was trying to reach and she gave me the number, I then said okie, bye and hung up. She sounded confused that I didn't ask anything else. strange. I'm not calling them back.

I keep getting up to 5 calls a day that come through as Anonymous, Private Caller.  They ask for an old employee of mine.  When I explained she no longer worked for us that didn't seem to do the trick they keep calling.  Finally I just told them that she was with a customer and could I take a message.  Finally got given 877-864-3526 ext 43554 and her name is Carrie.  All she would say as well is MCM as the company name.  I wonder what I'm going to have to do to convince them she no longer works for us so that they quit calling!!!!

These people start calling at 8am and don't stop till 9pm.  The calls come through as Unknown Name/Unknown Number.  Rob Hansen is the only one of them that would even bother to leave a message and he just said he could be reached at 877-864-3526 x 43544.  I had to ask what company he was calling from and all I got was MCM.  I don't know which debt they might be trying to collect on because I am not calling them back.  I have no desire to be abused or harassed or even threatened by a stranger about my financial situation, like they know more about it than I do.

For weeks I have been receiving calls looking for somebody with my relatively common name. The calls were daily and sometimes I was asked by a recording to wait for a representative. I always asked why they were calling, but they wouldn't engage unless I verified I was the person they were calling, which I would not to an inbound caller.

I contacted my carrier's Nuisance Bureau and asked if these calls, which seemed to be coming from Mumbai [India] could be blocked. The carrier said offshore calls cannot be blocked.

Out of frustration, I cursed the callers and all of their ancestors, but the calls kept coming. Next, I told them to hold while I linked in the local FBI field office, but they clicked off. They seemed to have no respect for US law. Next, I tried to make it fun to take their daily calls by activating a "fart" machine into each call, but the calls kept on coming.

Now this evening, I told the caller that I was a guest staying at the house and would tell my host of their call if could get their name and they said, "MCM." My web search on "MCM" found this forum and I am completely baffled by these calls now.

I am baffled because I have a FICO score over 800 and clearly have not ignored any debts. Yet, it appears that a listed company like Midland, a wholly owned sub of Encore Capital [Nasdaq: ECPG] can hound anyone at any time under the pretense of debt collection. I am afraid to become proactive because of my strong credit standing and reputation in the community. My lifelong policy is to not divulge any personal data on inbound calls.

It seems like I should have the right to take MCM/Encore into the low post for disrupting my household for weeks for no bona fide reason. Encore has a market capitalization of $470 million, so they would make a tasty target, but on what grounds? Any legal eagles out there?
