- AnnThese people called me telling me I had one chance to get this cleared up and that I had a lawsuit against me. I had until the end of the business day to come up with the full amount due or till the end of the week to come up with 10% of the total. After talking to me they then called my sister the next day and told her about my lawsuit. Is that even legal?

- MichelleI have received several phone calls saying I owe over 700.00 for a small payday loanthat I took out in 2007. I explained that I had meber made enough money to take out a payday loan that size and that my state only offers them for up to 500.00. I knew about this loan and knew the originally amount. I also knew tjat I do still have this debt because the company I took it out with went out of businesd and filed bankruptcy not long after I got it, which is why it is still unpaid because they hhave never attempted amy collections and I did not know who to call to pay it. so with that said I asked them how could a loan, that after fees was 201.25, turned into 700.00? He said it was ask of the interest but if I was willing to part it off that day they would settle for 287.00. I told them that I wanted something in writing since they had my current address. I received something about 2 weeks later with a letterhead from mohawk place development, the 877 number and the address in oregon. So that is when I wanted to look deeper and found this sight.

- BonBon| 2 repliesMy mother recieved a call from these [***] a few times, finally after researching their number I find out that they are scammers. They called this morning, and I took care of the situation. I asked what the bill was for, and the charges were bogus. They said that she got a loan from a place called Money & More. My mother has never gotten a loan, especially from the internet. I told him that I know what he is and what hes does, and told him to go f himself, and to get a real job and to stop taking money from innocent hardworking people. He told me to stop calling him and to go F myself. I will not take people like this scamming innocent people out of their hard earned money.

- BonBon replies to BonBonHe also told me that I cannot send him money, but give him my credit card money on the phone.
- broncofan replies to BonBonI got the same call this morning about a money or more loan back in 2008 saying I owed them money or else. I was scared and gave them my credit card info and paid 50.00 to get the process going. After further research I noticed that my money or more loan had been paid off and the bank manager was very helpful to give me all the documentation. I was banking with one bank that tranisitoned to another bank. This guy had all this information which made him sound legit. My caller was also dillion murphy and I talked to a chris at ext. 305. after realizing it was not legit and trying to call and show proof that I was right no one wanted to help so I call my credit card company and they cancelled my card and everything but the compnay already took my 50.00. So now we will wait and see what happens next. But my bank told me it was a scam and normal collection agency's have contact with you by mail and other mean many times before saying this is the only day to handle this.

- JenniMy calls came today to my brother in law, (I don't even know his number), and then to my 86 year old grandmother's number. I do more research about credit and debt than anyone I know and I know my rights. No one can EVER call and say that you have a "court date coming up very soon". You are delivered a subpoena if you are expected in court. This is a debt collection agency who's practices are extremely illegal. They cannot harass you or lie to you or give any information to other members of your family over the phone. I never have and never would enter my grandmother's number as a contact. How did they get this information? The funniest thing about it is that most people will call back when they hear anything about a court date...this is their tactic, albeit illegal. I have a feeling they are getting their information illegally as well, and bringing up "so-called" debts from companies who are already out of business or have given up on those debts. I also read from someone else that the debt The MP Group called about was paid of in the agreed upon time. It is also very common for scammers to change their company name and numbers frequently because of all the bad reports. I received a call from 877-448-7978 from The MP Group as well, so I will be posting this in that post as well. David Zelinski was the first caller from a private number who left the above number for returning a call and John at ext. 304 is the person I spoke to when I called back. Oh...and do not dare give them your credit card or bank account information. Do your research!

- HT| 1 replyI received a call from someone asking if I would be home to receive a certified letter. I asked what for and they said they were told I had talked to someone about what this was regarding. I had not so he offered me a number. I then called and spoke with someone named Anthony Mitchel, he said I had a payday loan from 2010 for $700 and I was being summoned to court to pay $5,768. He even went as far to say that amount was ridiculous and we could clear this up today for $700 which was apparently the original loan. He said if not paid they would garnish my wages and put a lien on my car. I could do jail time for check fraud etc…I own my car outright so I don’t think he can do that. They said they’ve sent correspondence to my address which was an old address where my parents live so I would have certainly received the mail. but the person who called about the certified mail had my correct address. I’ve since checked all my credit reports and Chex systems report. I’ve bought a house and two cars since 2010 so there is no way I have something like this outstanding still. He did have a scary amount of information including my mothers name and car I drive. Even if this was a valid debt it was 13 years ago. Isn’t there a statue of limitations on something like this?
- Caller: Unknown I think Raleigh services?
- Tygerkat replies to HTThere's no "statue" of limitations on any debt. There is, however, a statute. It differs for every state so you can look it up for yours to find out what it entails.
BTW, this is the fake process server scam. Real process servers don't call in advance. Also, no liens can be placed or wages garnished without a court order. Plus, if you actually owed this debt you would have received lots of mail about it over the last 13 years.
