I too received this phone call which I didn't answer. The voicemail I got had a good moment of silence then the caller says "time sensitive program apparently and I need to call back by the end of the week , we can help". HA!
So I research...... find this thread with all of the scam mentioned....proceed to Navients website, surprise, I cant find this number listed!
Then I come across a section on thee Navient website warning people of fraud!!!! Imagine that! (excerpt from the website fraud warnings shown below)
This all reminded me of a "student loan forgiveness" program attempting to sign me up but they need a payment of $500.
First red flag!!!! If someone needed loan forgiveness for student loans they couldn't make monthly payments of $50-$70, what on earth would make this place think they can shell out $500 to enter into a program?!?!? Not only that but asking for a PIN that you should have on record. 2nd red flag!!

Anyway, RESEARCH people and don't take someone for their word just because they promise you the moon and the stars!
Scams are out there and it is up to YOU to not fall victim to them!

Other comments stated on this thread saying the call is legit are probably the people involved in this scam trying to encourage their fraudulent practice to suck every penny out of their prey.
Don't buy it! If it sounds too good to be true, it more than likely is too good to be true.

Or they may say that they have special expertise, special access, or an affiliation with the Department of Education or Navient and other federal loan servicers.

Don't fall victim to companies who promise to fix your student loans if you give them control over your account. Don't pay to enroll in a payment plan that's available for free for all borrowers with federal student loans.

Danger Signs

These danger signs may indicate that you are dealing with a fraudulent, so-called "student debt relief" organization.
##You are asked to pay high fees in advance. Avoid any company asking you for money before they do anything.
##You are asked to sign a power of attorney or third-party authorization, AND you are asked not to talk to your loan servicer once you sign the paperwork; or you are asked to provide your federal student aid Personal Identification Number (PIN). Signing unnecessary documents or severing contact with your federal loan servicer may make it easier for the company to defraud you … and harder for you to recover any money you lose to them.
##You hear a promise to lower your loan payment immediately, cancel your student loan debt, or provide immediate relief from default or garnishment. Under federal student loan programs, debt relief companies do not have the ability to negotiate with your creditors for any special treatment of your loan.
##You are told their company is affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education, with Navient, or with other federal loan servicers. Be very suspicious if a company uses a logo that resembles a government seal, or misuses words or terms that make it appear to be endorsed by the federal government.

This is related to a scam. Navient called me because my name was used as a reference for a person that I do not know. You say that we are a country founded on your talking points, but we are a country where these points no longer matter and sadly so.

This is a number for Navient or someone claiming to represent Navient.  I've received numerous calls from various telephone numbers, looking for Gregory  Wilson.   I've explained repeatedly that I'm not Gregory Wilson and he is not at the phone number they are calling.  Still the calls persist.  I am ready to consult an attorney to pursue an action to make these calls stop.

Good luck trying stop them, Navient isn't exactly known for being organized and up to date on information. You can try blocking every number they call from (they've got a slew of them) or possibly threatening them with an attorney. If they're unable to harass somebody, either by phone or mail, you seem to be erased from existence. If all else fails, send them a cease and desist letter signed by an attorney.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt cease and desist calling or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

They called asked for Mark malott to pay C.R England trucking.Sounded upset claimed police was looking for Mark Malott.

Called asked for Mark Malott to pay Debt he owed to Sally Mae.Police was looking for him to pay student loan debt for training . sounded upset very rude.

Called asked for Taresa Chaney or Charles Chick to pay C.R England truck school loan constantly calls very rude.

Hundreds of harassing robot calls from this number, 877/931-7676, to our home land line - for reasons unknown!  [***]!

This people called saying  that i was the reference  person for someone in my family.
Fist thing they've ask me was my social.

The called asking for a name I haven't used in 14 years as I am married now. Allof my student loans are current and with the Department of Education. I am not behind and I pay what I am suppose to sothis has to be a scam because I get my regular statements through the mail from EDU and they have all my correct information I will not be calling them back as they stated that are Navient Department of Education nothing about any loans. Please don't even acknowledge these people.

This number was given as a call back # from a Rick Russo from Ambient Dept of Ed.  The # on caller ID was 615-432-4223.  The referenced my daughter's name.  The telephone companies need to really crack down on people using other numbers in caller ID.  The number in caller ID should only reflect the actual number the caller is calling from.
