I got a blocked call with a recording saying they were looking for my husband to serve him a summons. This is the number on the recording they asked to call back 888-200-9171 When my husband called them to see what it was all about they try to get your personal information such as credit card number address telephone number and social security number. He refused to give out any information. Don't call this number!

Got a blocked call on my cell and home number. Stated he was Eric James and he has papers to serve me at my place of employment or residence. Said if any questions to call plantiff at 888-200-9171. Got nothing but music then was told to leave a msg. No company name or greeting nothing. Left a msg re: the msg I recv and that I had recv nothing in the mail re: any debts etc and have been advised by the Attorney Generals office not to enter into any agreements with any debt collectors without verification of the debt. To please call me back in what this is in reference too.

They called me about 10 minutes ago, same exact thing....boy they must be suing a lot of people today...Hmmm....sounds fishy to me.  The last time I returned a call like this, it was a scam....I tried to ensure that the debt was real (it wasn't) and they harassed me at home and at work for an entire week (they couldn't confirm the debt)...they called my place of employment over 74 times in 1 hour, told my boss to fire me or pay up and called her a [***]!  We reported the number to the District Attorney that the number was call from.

Wow, would they are busy today, I just got the same call 2 mins ago. I just might have to call them back and threaten them with my legal knowledge.

I just got the same exact voicemail.  The number on my caller ID showed up as 0000000000.  I'm not calling them back, but will be interested to watch these posts and see what anybody else finds out.  The last time I got a rash of calls similar to this I ended up SCREAMING at them to never call me again - and it worked.

I actually posted yesterday right after but I was never able to get ahold of anyone at that number. When you called did they tell you what it was in reference too?

Just some update info. I tried to call that same number back again today. Got more music then a msg my call is being transferred, then more music and told to leave another msg. Left another msg that trying to find out what this is in reference too. Haven't gotten a call back yet as to what the first call was about and what reason someone is looking to serve papers. I did leave on msg that if this in ref of a debt I need verif in the mail

I received a call today also Caller ID showed all 0's and a recording came on that said I was being served papers and to call 888-200-9171.  I actually got a person on the phone who told me she was collecting on a bad check charge that stemmed from a payday loan that was included in my bankrupcty.  She said I needed to pay $209.60 right now or someone would be at my work or home to arrest me within 2 hours.  I asked her for proof that i owed or her company info she said she would send me receipt after i paid it.  I told her i was calling my lawyer and she said fine you'll be arrested by 1pm and hung up.  I'm writing because I feel  Bad enough that I had to file bankruptcy never mind now having someone harrass me about something that was in that filing.  I talked to my lawyer's office and everything the woman said to me on the phone was illegal.  I'm glad I didn't fall for her threat.

Where do people get  my cell numbers and work numbers. I am really getting frustarated with. I have no debts outstanding. I will never do a payday loan every agian for this reason they must sell information!

Someone ought to play along just up to the point of giving them your credit card information to pay whatever debt they say you owe.  Then when you get their name/contact info, post it here and we can all file complaints with the FTC.

There was a group operating just like this (illegally threatening to serve papers) in Orange County California that was busted by the FTC in October 2011.  I heard some of those employees branched out after the bust and opened their own operations using the same game plan.  

It was said that the FTC tracked them down using complaints and phone numbers posted on this forum so perhaps now they are more slick and are completely blocking caller ID so we can't track them.

They buy up old "zombie" debt for pennies on the dollar and then try to collect using illegal tactics.

I received the same message for the same gentlemen. when i tried calling the very same thing happened it was just music playing. everything they told you they told me also. they left a message becasue when they call it's all 0 numbers. what shall we do not believe them.. i've had alot of these calls and how do you stop them???

Just got this message as well same thing hold music then voicemail I think this is a scam I am debt free and dont use checks so not sure what they are trying to collect I think it is BS

I just got the phone number they actually called me back from 678-619-0915 please everyong file complaints to the FTC and Attourney Generals office they are making invalid and illegal threat to collect a debt that was dicharges in my bankruptcy

I called back and heard the name roman & miller is what it said after the music stopped and went to the message a second time.

yes they are. They told me I owed a debt I didn't. When I told the lady on the phone her name was beth I  believe, she told me if i didn't pay 975.00 last night the police were going to arrest me and id be brought up on felony charges. I kept telling the iddiot i have never heard of the pay day loan service she is talking about and my pay day loan is payed off.

I got the same message. This is a definite scam. This happened once before to me and I was foolish and called them back. They told me the same thing they had charges against me and they would be out to serve me papers. I suggested that if they did so they should have the Sheriff with them. I also told them they could speak to my attorney if they wished and they replied "you have money for an attorney but not to pay what you owe?" I told them that right and go ahead and serve me. They said they would see me at the "court house". The legal system does not work like this. Please call the attorney general, the FTC and your local police. THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO BE STOPPED. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there (especially the elderly) when they hear something like this they get scared and give them money. Please warn everyone you know not to give out any information over the phone and do not give them any credit card or banking information.

I got the same message and they were arguing wiht me for about 20 mins before they told me that i had to pay 440 or i would be arrest and they also said they were calling for crown financial.

This is the second time I received this call. The first time was Friday, August 17, 2012 and the second was today just a few minutes ago.  It was a voicemail left on my work phone that stated it was Eric James and he neededed to serve me papers at my place of employment or residency .
