It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid. 

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I called Santa Ana city to check the licence of Shapiro and associates at 1851 E 1st Street Santa Ana. This building exist in Santa Ana. Every business at this building has a # but notice there is no # for Shapiro and associates. The officer from the licencing office for the city of Santa Ana checked this name and said they don't exist at that building and they are a scam. I realized that platinum holdings LLC at 20422 beach boulevard #245 Huntington beach CA at 714 316 2740 are the once doing the fraudulent things under the name of Shapiro and associates which fake. Instead of making people go after them and they are a legit business with a rating of A on the BBB. They make people go after a fake business Shapiro and associates. I don't know if the police should be involved in this or not? of course the complaints to the AG, and ftc should filed but maybe it's not enough to stop these criminals.

This is not the type of crime the PD gets involved in.  Especially if no money has changed hands.

They've contacted me several times claiming they are taking legal action. One call they yelled at me after calling them back. They would not even tell me what debt it was, so they are probably buying old debt.

This number has called my daughter, father, my husbands work, both my cell phone and my husbands cell phone. Claiming that they have a lawsuit against my social security number and if I do not respond they will have a warrant out for my arrest. All I would like to know is there anyway possible to stop these people.

A collection agency buy the old debt that is not valid any more. Meaning a debt that shouldn't be collected any more. In my case it's platinum holdings LLC who is a legal business with a rating of an A with the BBB. Instead of a legal business doing illegal actions of threatening the public with arrests and law suits they do their actions under this number 888.212.6268 with the name of Shapiro and associates at 1851 E first street  Santa Ana CA. Which is all fake. I have the police department who checked them out and realized that they are not a legal business.
The problem here is the fact that they have a lot of confidential information. You shouldn't pay them any thing because the have barred debt meaning expired debt. They should be reported to the governor office of your state, the federal trade commission, the consumer affairs and in my case the police department. A detective is already investigating them in my city. I believe the more they are reported to the government agencies the more there is a chance of arresting them.

I just realized they are a total fraud. FAKE business name, fake address and different law suits. So they keep in changing the fake business names and phone numbers. Unfortunately they keep going with cheating the public and no arrests are made with a bunch of criminals
