Got two pieces of mail today (Saturday.)  Thought they were junk mail and almost threw them out, but opened them out of curiosity because they looked so similar but had different return addresses.  Glad I did, because each informed me that I had subscribed to a service for an initial $1.95 fee, and that if I didn't like it and wanted to unsubscribe I had fifteen days from the date of enrollment to call toll free and cancel it before I would be automatically charged a monthly fee.  One was to be $29.95, the other $39.99.  Both said the enrollment date was fifteen days ago!  So I immediately called the number, and got a message saying they are only open from 9 to 5 on weekdays!  How convenient for them!  They must plan their mailings so that you don't get notice until it's too late to cancel.  Then I went online and checked my bank balances, and sure enough, fifteen days ago I was charged $1.95 twice, once by DMMP 888-222-0232 FL and once by STATE ENTERPRISES MAG 888-285-2442.  I expect the new “monthly” charges will both appear when the bank opens on Monday.
So to warn others, here is what I know so far: One of the mailings I got was from National Publications and More, 1340 N Great Neck Road, STE 1272, Box #348, Virginia Beach, VA 23454-2268.  The postmark indicates it was mailed from the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area. It says I chose to receive four magazine subscriptions (none of which is anything I would ever be interested in) and that if, within fifteen days of my enrollment (which supposedly was fifteen days ago) I decide their service is not 100% perfect for me, I need simply to call 1-800-393-0658 to cancel, and the $1.95 one-time charge is all I will ever pay.  Only they didn’t put that notice in the mail until 5 p.m. on Wednesday of day twelve, so it didn’t arrive until Saturday, (day fifteen,) when their office is closed.  If I don’t cancel in time, I will automatically be billed $29.95 a month.  They give a web address of http://www.NationalPublicationsandMore.com.
The second mailing was from Ultimate Daily Savings, 576 North Birdneck Rd #627, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.  The postmark indicates it was also mailed from the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area.  It says I have enrolled in the Ultimate Daily Savings Club, a discount shopping service.   Like the first letter, this one also says I have fifteen days from the date of enrollment in which to call 1-800-410-1903 to cancel, and the $1.95 one-time charge is all I will ever pay.  If I fail to cancel before the deadline, (which they have made it impossible for me to do,) I will automatically be billed $39.99 a month.  They say that all this information was also sent to the email address I provided.  Well if it was, I probably thought it was junk and deleted it without opening it.  They give a web address of www.UltimateDailySavings.com.
I have searched for where I might have agreed to paying a $1.95 fee for anything recently, but have not been able to find it.  Maybe it’s in the fine print of something else I ordered which seemed legit, but if it is, I haven’t been able to find it (and I’ve been pretty careful about reading fine print lately, because this is the second time in a few months that I’ve been scammed.)

See my previous post.  Well, this morning I was sitting in the bank parking lot when they opened.  Neither the $29.95 nor the $39.99 charge had been deducted from my account yet, so I put a block on my credit card.  Then I called the two customer service numbers as soon as they opened at 9:00 a.m.  Both allowed me to cancel the service, and said I will not be charged anything further.  The two $1.95 initial fees are non-refundable.  I asked how I got subscribed in the first place, and they said it was in response to a phone call, supposedly on the day before my "enrollment date."  Neither my husband nor I have given out credit card info to anyone over the phone, so how did they get it?  Neither of us would have subscribed to either of these services if they had been offered to us.  I checked my caller i.d. for the date on which we supposedly got the call, and found two out-of-state numbers.  I looked them up online, and found that one has no reports on it, but the other, 727-518-8662, shows up in reports on this website in multiple scams.  There were two other suspicious calls, one on the previous day and one on the supposed "enrollment date."  The first, 801-377-7003, shows up as "Key Research" on the i.d. box, and has been reported on this website in multiple scams.  The second, 646-560-3180,  also shows up on this website in multiple scams.  The people I spoke with at the customer service number were courteous and assured me my subscriptions were cancelled, but that still doesn't explain how they got my credit card info, how they got me signed up for these services, and why I didn't get the info on how to cancel the services until after the supposed deadline for doing so.  Customer Service also said I can still use the $100 in retail rebates that I supposedly got a a reward for signing up with Ultimate Daily Savings, but I'm not going to go to their website to claim it, for fear they'll nab me again!  Can anyone explain how these outfits got my personal info?

UPS Stores offer "Virtual offices" by way of a drop box for mail, using the UPS stores address + a box number, to give the impression the "office" has a real street address.
Legit small businesses use these services to add more creditability to their business, criminals use these services to run their scams while leaving little to no locational info.

Contact the stores to inform them that their customer using the above box numbers are running credit card scams.

Request your bank to a "Charge Back" for the funds the scammers stole from you. Tell the bank that the charges were not authorized and you card information was obtained without your consent or knowledge.

Dispute the charges with your bank.  Advise them that the charges were made without your knowledge or permission.  I would also have the bank change your account number.  If you have any payments setup  for recurring payment, you will need to update those accounts accordingly.

This number is a SCAM! Call your credit card customer service and get out of this as quickly as possible. A real shame good people can't conduct business without being subjected to this kind of crap. Technically they should not have contacted me (which they apparent didn't) because I am all the "Do not Call" lists.

I was considered enrolled on 6/3/16, but Ultimate Daily Savings didn't mail the letter until 6/11/16. The letter is from Virginia Beach, but it was mailed from Miami. They alleged a 15-day trial period before a $39.99 monthly membership. Woops.

Most of the time the source of these mystery charges and "enrolled into monthly fee services" are the result of being auto-signed up in lieu of some sort of free or discounted offer you had given your card info on to get.
Like say you saw an ad for "free sample" of a product, just pay a small shipping fee of a dollar or two. However the fine print or fast talk that you don't catch is they the offer is in lieu of being signed up for one or more fee based useless services.
These "services" are normally very hard to opt-out of, completely useless, and have been know to continue to bill you even when you do manage to opt-out.
You wind up paying far more in fees than whatever the "free" pr "trial" product is truly worth.

The same thing happened to me ,but I don't order anything ever on tv,online ,or thru the mail .I called to make a payment to jcp (J.C.Penney)on June 14,2017 ,then I heard a "click".A woman asked would you like to receive a voucher from Walmart for only  $1.99 and an additional $1.99 ?I asked is this a savings club ,she said yes ,rushed me to get my card info.,email and mailing address. She said it would arrive in 3 business days, I haven't received anything! When I asked for the name of the company, email address ,she said it would appear in my email and the voucher .She gave me a 1-888 number to cancel it but she said it too fast and I asked her to repeat it and she gave my two numbers .I asked her to repeat them again and she said "Everything will be sent in the mail and in your email ,if you have no other questions ,goodbye !I didn't get her name, the email ,the voucher or any numbers to call ! I'm worried because she said I would charged $39.99,and $29.95 if I don't cancel in 15 days .I'm also worried because I receive supplemental security income (ssi) so I can't  close my account and change the routing and account number ,it would take at least a month for the government to change it .It's probably already in the system .I think they prey on older people.

I keep an eye on my mom's credit card account, especially because she compromised it near the end of May and had to get a new card. I noticed two charges on her card for $1.95 each on June 7. One was from 877-358-7409 smi Va and the other was from 888-222-0232 Dmmp Ft Lauderdale. As they were very vague as to what kind of business they were and my mom had just had surgery and was in the hospital, I had to wait to see what transpired. Her mail was being forwarded to my house and I received the letter about the magazines she supposedly signed up for (none that she was even remotely interested in) and the 15 day trial period during which she could cancel. I don't remember the date on the letter but, with forwarding, I know it was way past the 15 days. She says she never gave out her new card number to anyone and I tend to believe her as I was the one that opened the envelope with her new card in it and I believe that was on the 9th. I too, would like to know how they got her card number. She has never received any magazines and I have not received anything to date from the other company. The smi company charged her card this week for $29.95. As their hours are conveniently 9am - 5pm EST and I work 8:30am - 5:30pm, I now have to find time to try to call them. I hate to have to change her card number again, as I just got all her reccuring charges notified of this card. I agree with Sandy that there are way too many people that prey on the elderly.
