important message from a debt collector, does not leave any info or why they are calling. It is so annoying.

They are forbidden to leave that information on an answering machine because they have no idea who might hear it.  So here is what you need to do.  You can use this information to your advantage, or you can ignore it and put up with the calls.  Your choice, but I know which one I would chose.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

At least once a day for the past week or so; no details; he leaves a call back number 888-244-2299 but my answering machine indicates 817-349-3253 which apparently is for "Locksmith 1 &A Anytime" in Fort Worth, TX and also in River Oaks, Tx...?   Clearly some scam....

BigA, how do you send a debt validation letter if you don't have account information that they are trying to collect on? I don't know if this is a valid debt or not.

Regardless of account information, if they are calling you about a debt then they should have your name, address and phone number on record.  But most importantly, you seem to have missed the most important part of the post, which was this:

If they failed to send that letter out, that is your first FDCPA violation.  That starts you off on the route to a nice lawsuit to put money in your pocket for the harassment.

"is a valid debt or not."  It is incumbent upon them to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it.  Not the other way around.

Just called the number because it keeps leaving a message on my answering machine about a debt collection which I thought was illegal. I usually don't call these numbers back because of scams. But wanted to tell whoever if this was legitimate you should contact me by mail. They wanted me to verify my information which I wouldn't do. I told them to send me something in writing if you have my number you should have my address , then i hung up. Watch out for scams.

Calling for a debt collection.  Calls 3 or 4 times a week. What an irritant!  Watch OUT for fraudulent business schemes.

Have been getting calls from this number for a couple of days.  Going by the post this is a bill collector.  I owe no one.

message is left on the phone to call 888-244-2299 but the number on caller ID is 804-767-3387.  That number is a 7-11 store in Richmond, Va.   I have not called them back.

They have been calling every day.  I have no business with them.

Kept asking for my info. My number, address, city. I told them that if I owe them they should have it! They never gave me any answers, how much I owe or what it is for. SCAM

Received the recorded message to call this number about debt collection.  Caller ID gave a 408 Area Code.
I don't owe anyone.

This is the same fake number that is posted when you get a computer notice on your browser from fake "Microsoft". Fake fake fake. It is a scam.
