Its a dual validation system for using VPN to access a network.  My company implemented it yesterday.  I forgot about it and when I looked at my phone this morning, I looked up the number and landed here.  It is harmless... I signed up for it.  At least I remembered.  The other complainants may be victims of a 'wrong number' sign up.

These calls are from Duo Security, a reputable member of the computer security community.  The calls or texts are intended to let you know that someone is trying to log on to a system that uses Duo's service, using your user ID.  They call so you can confirm or deny that it's actually you doing it.  If you feel the calls are coming to you in error, contact Duo, at www.duosecurity.com.

I've put the call type in as "unknown" because there's no option for "Legitimate."

It's an authentication protocol for Duo Security system while you are connecting to your network remotely using SSTP VPN. You may want your VPN or authenticating server to have more than just 60 sec. to respond though.

It's an automated call-back from Duo Security, that's a company that offers website administratorws and owners additional security by double-checking whenever they log into their website. Bottom line, if they call you and you don't know them or why they call you, it's probably because someone else mistyped their cell phone number.

PS I selected "Event Reminder" as the Call Type below because that's the closest I could come up with for this type of verification call-back calls...

This number is a security number sent by my bank to make sure I am the one trying to access my on- line banking account. I gave the bank my cell number so this call is really just a security measure a help set up with my bank.

Our company signed up for a second-factor authentication service from Duo Security. This is the number they used to mask the call from their automated authentication tool. It only called the numbers that I entered (or my administrative assistant entered) to use to confirm my "second factor" beyond password to access secure internal sites. Once I answered and pressed the digit, it stopped calling (Event Reminder) - which is what they said it would do.

Yep - it's for Duo Security - a two factor authentication app. When registering there is an option to use a voice out from the server, it calls when creating the account.

Idea was not paying attention to a number I didn't know but now I realize it does have to do with duo and vpn security as that is what I was trying to do around the time I got the calls.  Mystery solved good to know.   I hadn't been able to log into vpn but now I won't find that number annoying as I now know what it was all about.  I love knowledgeable responses over complaints!   😊
