Yep, I've got two machine messages from this Chris Clayton but he is asking for someone we do not know. I almost called back to let him know he had the wrong number.

    D.
I, too, received threatening phone calls from "Mr. Clayton" telling me I would lose my home and all my worldly possessions if I did not pay a debt (I knew I owed but could not pay).  I have responded to "UNKNOWN" callers because calls from my son come to me that way.  After 2 threatening calls I stopped answering and recived two weeks of recorded messages.  Finally, I received a call with the # identified from a "Mr. Stone" who talked very nicely to me and offered a settlement I could afford.  Should I have still blown him off?  I am unfamiliar with these things?

A few days ago I recieved a call from a mister Paul Stone who introduced himself as working for the lawfirm representing the funeral home that my sister and I used to bury my mother. He told me that he had contacted my sister in regards to the outstanding debt owed to the funeral home and told me that she was very uncooperative and if I came up with $2500 then I would be dropped from the action. I told the man that I did not have that kind of cash at the time, but told him that if he could wait a couple of weeks for me to get my tax refund, i would be more than happy to settle the debt, and he agreed. However, today I received a call from a Mr. Al Goldberg, and he was quite  a different animal indeed, he told me that the agreement that was previously made was not an agreement, and that if I didn"t come up with $500 by tomorrow at lunchtime then  he would file a lawsuit against me for $15000. First off this [***] was throwing threats at me left and right, telling me that he would have the courts garnish my wages, take all of my possesions, and seize all of my tax returns until my debt was paid. then after i explain that i had made an arrangement with someone else at his "firm" he then told me, "If you're not going to pay your debt then don't lie to me, i don't need to hear your crap I'll just file the paperwork and I'll get paid regardless." the nature of the debt is not as it seems, the costs were to be paid by an insurance policy that my mother had, however her fiance was the benefeciary and he hasn't been seen or heard from in 4 years, he has the contract for the services, and was supposedly going to take care of the costs. when I asked for copies of the bill for the funeral I was told not to worry an that they were trying to track down the fiance. I didn't cast my debts aside, i am willing to pay, i have just now been given the amount owed, which is less than 6000, my biggest hang up with these [***] is the fact that they are unlawfully telling me that i owed upwards of $10,000 and if I don't pay them $2500 then they are going to sue me for $15000 can we come up with a real amount owed? I am by no means trying to avoid payment of my debts, but I'll be damned if these dicks think that I'm going to be bamboozled! I have reported them and their practices to the Federal Trade Commission and if anyone else has contact with them I strongly urge you to do the same. The number for the FTC is 877-382-4357. REPORT THEM! THEY ARE CONDUCTING THEMSELVES IN AN UNLAWFUL MANNER!!!!

I continuously recieve letters and phone calls from these individules at RRI. They are rude and threatening, and I am so tired of them calling. Saying that they are trying to collect a debt from a business whos account has already been settled. It is definitly a scam because they keep quoting me different amounts of  money that i "owe"  How can i make the calls and letters stop?

    Holly,

Shouldn't you be making collection calls right now?  Don't you enjoy harassing others without knowing both sides of the story?  I guess no one has ever erroneously billed you for anything?

Go slither back under your rock; no one gives a rats a** about what you have to say.  A nurse?  Guess that's what you wanted to be when you grew up but you just weren't able to get the grades were you.

Ok Nurse Holly, if you pay your bills and you have no dog in this race, then why in the hell are you on this forum?

Let me guess, you were bored and just surfing the net and somehow Facebook, Myspace; oh I don't know, Porn, just didn't seem to be interesting so you decided to look up topics about debt collectors and deadbeat people?

You're the one that needs to GROW UP and get a real life.  One that doesn't make you lie and one that doesn't include a profession that you obviously can't stand due to the fact that you now have a bad rep for being a debt collector yourself.  You have the same mentality as someone working at a fast food joint for $6.50 an hour and you belong there.

just filed a complaint with both the FTC and the Kansas Attorney General's Office.

Mark Morales made several calls today to me, my son, my mother and my former employer leaving details of his alleged claim against me.

I returned his call only to hear his foul language and threats to take my personal belongings and then have him hang up on me.  I called back for a supervisor and that person did much of the same.

The people at Russell, Reynolds & Ingram are NOT attorneys, nor do they have a legitimate legal department.  They do pull your credit report to see what assets you have and what other bills you have not paid and they will reveal all the little details.  They don't care to hear both sides of the story, they just want money and they will do or say anything to accomplish their goal.

If they have called you and harrassed or threatened you in any way, shape or form.  You need to file a complaint with the FTC and the AG's office.  Don't just let them slide by.  This company has already received one court order against them by the FTC.

I will also more than likely seek out an attorney to file against them for damages.  I haven't checked yet to see if there is another class action lawsuit against them.  Please don't let these types of people to get away with what they do.  Water may roll off your back, but think of other defenseless one's who may not be as strong, like the elderly or sick.

I for one, am tired of debt collectors not being regulated by the government.  I was a victim of ID theft over ten years ago and that still haunts me to this very day.  It's unrelated to this case but I still have debt collectors calling me about those debts that had police reports filed on them and were closed seeking additional payment.  When I tell them about the reports they want a copy.  Police departments normally don't hang onto these records that long and if they do, place them in cold storage.  Yet I still have to deal with removing them from my credit bureaus on a regular basis.  Anyone can place a claim on your credit report, they don't have to have proof.  It's about time that stops.
