Yeah they called my fiancee's family members asking personal questions. They even told her dad that she has court today! LOL. Then they said court on the 27th to another family member. Any my fiancee called tham back and a very rude man was being nasty with her on the phone. I grabbed the phone and told him don't ever call this number again. He cursed and laughed but I hung the phone up by then. How can we get these rude people from calling all our family members?

Tonight I received a message from Bart Conner, a legal assistant, for Attorney Jason Head. They're trying to locate "a guy". They've made the leap from collection agency to legal. The caller ID did not match the number that was left on the answer machine.757-453-6447 was on the caller ID.

I received several calls from the "Law Office of Jason Head, LLC".  I've actually dealt with scam artists like this before, and just happened to be sitting at my computer at work when they called.  I checked the phone number, (757) 453-6440, on which I performed a reverse lookup.  The number returns to the following:

Cash Quick Of Denbigh Pawn Shopwork
    200 Golden Oak Ct
    Virginia Beach, VA 23452

    (757) 453-6440

    And also to

    Jeff Booth Pcwork
    200 Golden Oak Ct
    Virginia Beach, VA 23452

    (757) 453-6440

Fortunately for me, my wife works for a District Court Judge and we've filed complaints with the FTC, the State of Texas Attorney General's Office and the State of Virginia Attorney General's Office.  The Judge was also good enough to do a Bar Register, and the Law Office of Jason Head, LLC doesn't show up.

Here's how this scam works.  If you have an outstanding debt that has either dropped off your credit bureau (something usually older than 7 years) or is illigitemate, certain bits of information, including the last four numbers of your SSN (which these scammers will often use to "confirm your identification") and last known or reported address, which in my case was a place I hadn't lived in over 15 years will appear on very old and often deleted or disposed of credit files.  These people are very good at extracting information from these files, including personal references (which they use to track you down).

In order to get them off your back, simply insist that they E-mail you (USE E-MAIL ONLY) proof of a debt.  They will likely send you a letter with a dollar amount on it.  Save this.  The reason you have them E-mail you is so they don't get your physical home address.  Anyway, once you have this bogus demand for payment in hand, send them a return E-mail indicatint that you have no intent to pay, since they have failed to provide legitemate proof of a debt, and in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 805c, you're demanding a cessation of contact by all means.  If they contact you after this, they're in violation of the FDCPA and can be fined (payable to you) $1000 for each violation (so record every phone call, time and date stamp it verbally with the person on the other line and repeat that they are in violation of FDCPA Section 805c, and that it has been recorded).  If you go to court, take all this evidence with you.

Usually letting them know that they are in violation of a Federal mandate is enough to get them off your back.  Sometimes it has to go to court.  In every case I've seen, the Plaintiff (not the so-called "attorney's office") has won the case and been awarded punitive damages.

So there you have it, ladies and gents.

My brother and father received phone calls yesterday, both saying some law office is looking for me.  This morning I returned the call and spoke to the woman, she kept asking me to confirm my SS # which I would not do.  When I asked who was looking for debt collection, she told me Balleys, I laughed being I've never been to a Balleys, I didn't even know what it was, I thought it was a casino, she informed me it was a gym, so I laughed.  I called them a bunch of con artists, that they picked on the wrong person, that I know I have no bad outstanding debt, I have always paid everything off.  She was upset that I insisted they were scammers and should be ashamed of themselves picking on people who might not know better.  She was getting upset with my attitude and next I hear some mans voice go "ma'am this is Mr. Sanchez, I just need you to confirm the last 4 digits of your SS #", being I read this msg board first I went "oh wait let me guess, your first name is MR? "  to which he said "have a nice day" and hung up.  I filed a report with the FTC about them, suggest everyone else do it as well.

Again these people called my brother, this time from a JP Holt Law Office (that's what it sounded like, but unsure)  When I called the 888-279-5761 they answered JASON HEAD.  I ended up battling with the same woman again, telling me that I had been at a Ballys in 2005 which is complete 100% BS.  I refused again to confirm my last 4 digits of my SS #.  She did read off to me some previous addresses I had lived at, however when I asked what city and state this supposed Ballys was in I got the response of "your city and state".  I requested they email me proof of the debt, which  she responded with a "ohhh I thought we did that already, why don't I just mail it to you if you'd like?"  To which I said "no I want it emailed to me".  I highly doubt I will get anything emailed to me, but reading SWORD's post, I will follow his direction.  Funny thing is I asked how much and they told me $637 but now with interest it's $881+.  I laughed and told her she's effin crazy for real.  She told me they will keep calling me until I pay.  I'm not returning anymore calls at this point.

She really gets upset when I keep referring to them as a bunch of scam artists and that they are just out to scam people.  Even when I asked why this time the call came from a different lawyers name, she had no response for it, just a "hmm I dunno".

I received a call today from someone asking for information on one of my kids today also.  The message was from Jason Head LLC and gave the phone number 888 279 5761.  They said it was necessary we contact them ASAP to avoid further legal action.  I looked up the number that came in on my phone index and it said it was a call from Virginia and the number it showed was 757 453 6440.  I googled the number and it is a pawn shop in Virginia Beach Virginia.  Address is - Cash quick of Denbigh Pawn shope, 200 Golden Oak Ct., Virginia Beach, VA 23452.  Of course it's a scam. Those idiots don't know about the fact that we can research their name by looking up their numbers.  IT IS A SCAM SO BE VERY CAREFUL.

I received a call this morning from a Mr. Graham with ________ (he slurred the name of the company) stating that he had a litigation file on his desk and gave me a case number.  I've gotten many calls from this company yet they will not forward any information to me regarding the debt they are collecting.  They sound very "official" and stated that they would advise their client to proceed with the litigation.   No matter how official they are they can never produce anything showing debt and their responsibility to collect.  Very harrassing and annoying.

The best way to keep the firm from calling you is to pay your bills on time.  To much anger directed at the wrong people remember you signed the contract not me.
